Official Math Lvl 2 Sat Study Place

i dont know about kaplan but PR is fairly accurate.

I just took my first practice test ever. It was test #1 from Barrons, 8th edition. I got a 700. What can I expect on the real test? Thanks! :)

probably 750+, great chance of an 800 since barrons is supposed to be crazy hard with lots of things you are not required to know

i love the color of barrons math workbook though
the maroon and yellow clashes so well

anyone know how to do polynomial division on a calculator?

^ Use synthetic division.

How does one do synthetic division?

i know how to do synthetic division, but how do i find the roots of a 4th degree+ equation? and wats descartes law or w/e with all the sign changes i forget

To find roots just plug it in the graphing part of your calculator and click 2nd "CALC" then click on "2. zero" click to left and right and your done. repeat process for remaining 3 or less roots.

Also quick question. Can anyone give a list of essential formulas to know for the test? Thanks!

I have a web site up with formulas for level 2 math (among other free stuff). The link to it ("SAT Math Facts and Formulas") is in the thread below:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/495184-sat-act-study-resources.html

Hope it helps! ...

Let x=first term

x+19n=100
x+39n=250
20n=150
n=7.5
x=100-19(7.5) or x=250-39(7.5)
x=-42.5

I think this is the easiest way. Remember, when in doubt, use alegbra

the problems they give with polynomial division can be done by hand really quick uually.

what are some of the more obscure topics that are definitely tested on the real thing?
i know for sure some of them include matrices, standard deviation

Ugh, I just did my first practice. I guess it went well enough, I only got one wrong--BUT skipped 12. This is stressing me out. I just want 700+, but I'm worried I'm going to bomb.

How do you do the "slice a cone with a plane" questions, like when it asks you for the volumes of two resulting solids, but you're not given any measurements? I tend to just stick in numbers, but that usually takes longer than is necessary.
Suggestions?

Are you guys memorizing stuff such as the volume & surface area of a cone, cylinder..ect?

bananafish9: a raw score of -37.75 is 750 lol it's good

^to wis3ly i know most of them and cb provides you with most of the ones you need to know, the only thing im putting on my calculator are some of the trig double angle formulas and reduction formulas.

Personally, I'm putting down the formulas for sequences/series. I took precalc last year, but I'm proficient enough with those formulas considering I don't have to memorize them.

730 on Barron's practice test 1.. that was hard haha
