*Official May 6th SAT Discussion*

I chose the diffident and aplomb one. The math question about which number that had an even sum and was an even number itself was tricky. I looked at 2011 and 2009 and could not figure it out until the last second. How clever. It's 2011-4! I hate math.

i thought it was two and three since for any value, the product would be greater than 100

yeah thats what i thought..it was greater than or equal to right?

I didn't choose III because what if a=0 and b= 104

The product of those would be 0.

oh crap. i didnt think of that. maybe the collegeboard didnt either LOL that would be nice.

0 isn't odd...i thought they had to be odd

This is my 3rd time asking... but I haven't gotten an answer yet.

Does anyone know how to join the AIM chat?

It said odd numbers only?

Oohh :/ I didn't read it correctly....

i put II and III... pretty sure tht was right

I have a question. I can't seem to get a straight answer on this. There was one question, with the two asian poets. It was, what situation is most similar to the moving out of the one asian poet to california. I put the answer with the writer who was criticized so much that he became despondent. Here is my logic: First, despondent means dejected, without hope. In the passage, the author decides to move out to california directly after her boyfriend tells her that her books were aweful. She was already described as being ripped apart by critics and now her boyfriend criticized her. The next sentence described her "retreating" to california and not publishing any more books. Now the other answer that some people are saying is that it was the artist who became a clerk to support himself financially. But my logic to disprove this is that why would she not move away earlier? What was so important about the boyfriend breaking up with her that this triggered her to move out? If it was all about financial issues, wouldn't this girl have moved out earlier when she didnt get any jobs, rather than right after her boyfriend says her books suck?

Any help would be great with some explanation! Thanks!

i could've sworn it to be the dancer and personal issue, but im probably wrong..this one is definitely a H question--no one knows fo sho.

oh and i didnt see the odd numbers part either but i forgot about 0 anyways so it worked out i guess

thts what i put as well... is it wrong??

I dont think it was the dancer stopping dancing because it specifically said that this woman was not confident enough to publish her books, but she still kept writing for six years.

It was the artist and clerk one because Caroline after she moved said she was starting to feel like her old self "healthy and happy"

logisticslord, do you remmber what the complementary for alacrity was in that sentence completion?? i dont know if it was aplomb/diffident or that

i forget..anyone remember? i really cant think of it.

nvm it was for sure diffident..

Can you guys explain to me that math question where two lines were tangent to a circle at point A and B.

It kind of formed a triangle looking thing with a perpendicular line from the radius going straight up.

It asked what angle that the angle on the far left equalled.

i tried to explain this a few posts backs... but what it created was not a triangle - but a quadrilateral.... In the quadrialteral, opposite sides are congruent ... thus angle B was congruent to the angle opposite it .....

for the last one with the roman numerals- it was only II, because the numbers could have been like .1 and 100, which, when multipled, would not be greater than 100
