So its that time of the year and were considering transfer, whether it be for this upcoming winter semester or next fall. Maybe you are just thinking in the near future or you have some time. Lets hear your stats and get some input. How many People are transferring this winter semester? Where are you coming from, GPA (HS and college) ACT, SAT, EC, Leadership... etc, you know the drill

I am applying to the college of engineering for this winter.

High school GPA: 3.46
ACT: 28

Attended Michigan-Dearborn freshman year and will this semester
GPA: 3.97/4.0
Only got an A- in calc III

Had an internship all summer for an electrical systems manufacturer.

good luck I'm hoping to apply for the fall

i'd say you seem pretty set. i'm as well attempting to transfer this winter as a sophomore. LSA poli sci maj/bio minor

3.0 hs gpa and 27 act

3.6 fall B in physics and A- in latin and 3.99 winter with calc and bio. That internship seems like a solid thing. Just keep up with the ec this year and keep them updated... Im gonna do a lot of stuff through the Honors College at WMU to boost my app. Plus the fact that you are at the dearborn campus. being already in the U of M circle makes up for it... I think you are a match. How hard is the Engineering program to get into. I have friends in there from frosh year and all they do is slack but i dont know how hard the transfer process is.

Just keep the grades strong man. you should be set

I'm not really sure how hard it is to transfer into engineering, but thanks a lot for the positive comments!

Good luck to you and be sure to keep up the grades. If this semester is like your last, it would probably make up for your first (3.6 isn't bad or anything, but hey it is U of M, so who knows).

I'm really happy I did so well after 31 credits. I figure this is my last chance to get into Michigan, so I better make it count. Hope it works out for you and don't give up.

Good luck transferring into Michigan as a Sophemore. From my experience it's extremely hard. I had a 3.95 my freshman year from a state university (a 4.0 by Michigan standards) with 33 credits taken my freshman year (and I came into college with 14). I was only applying to LSA, but I received a generic letter stating that I have the option of resubmitting my application for an upcoming term. I got the vibe that it's very rare for them to take transfers as a sophomore, but they seemed more than willing to consider me if i were to reapply as a junior.

Don't let this discourage you - Give it a shot. There's nothing to lose and the world to gain. *****, I have both of my rejection letters hung on my wall for motivation - believe me-there's no greater motivation than getting rejected from the only thing you've ever cared about...TWICE.

So give it a go, but don't bank on it like I was at the end of freshman year...

GOOD LUCK, and I hope to see you in Ann Arbor next fall!

Hi, I'm wondeing if I could reuse the essays that I wrote for the freshman application for the transfer application. Two of the questions are the same, and I think my essays were pretty well written.

And, i got accepted for freshman with those essays. Didn't attend for some reason. SO, now I'm seeking admission as transfer. Thanks for your feedbacks.

i guess you could, but i think they hold on to your application for like 2 years so they may look over your previous app and think your lazy... it's your call. i would rewrite it, or at least try to make it better. but that is your call

I just wanted to contribute to this thread. I was accepted for Fall 08 as a transfer so I will share my stats

HS GPA (college prep school): 3.17
ACT: 27
College GPA from university of arizona with 15 credits: 3.42

hope this helps

Maxk88-2 questions. Are you in-state, and what year were you when you applied? Thx ahead of time.

I was OOS (Texas). I applied when I was a freshman

Maxk88 what were you applying as? soph or junior. I guess right now i am a soph(2nd year in college) but credit wise i should be a junior by the end of this semester.

Hey I'm a freshman at Hope College. I'm definitely not enjoying a small, private college and would like to transfer to Michigan.

My highschool achievements were okay, 3.45 and 25 ACT (Only took once for some stupid reason junior yr.)

If I can graduate Hope with a 3.8+ how are my chances for enrolling in the LSA program? I'm also Kazahkstani if that helps my chances...

So who has gotten their application in for this winter? For what program?

I turned it in two weeks ago - LSA bio and poli sci - i'm just waiting for some letters of rec i had asked for to be sent. what are your stats?

I got my application in last week for engineering; sent my transcripts and scores about two weeks ago.

chances (for LSA)…
current freshman applying as a sophomore
OOS
university of miami honors programs, gpa for first semester will be 3.4-3.5
act- 34
high school gpa- 91 unweighted

Transfer Admission Chances

Applying for Winter Semester
In-State
High School GPA: 3.0
ACT: 23
Community College GPA: 3.7

I by know means know a lot about what transfer applicants get in, but I successfully transferred in the winter semester. I had a 28 ACT and 3.97 GPA from U of M Dearborn (small satellite campus of UMich). I transferred directly in as an electrical engineering major. From my experience with that, there were about 30 total engineers accepted for Winter 2009, among all the engineering disciplines. I have heard more are accepted in the fall and I know nothing of numbers about LSA.
