Waiting on Brown, Penn, U Chicago, Northwestern, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, and Claremont McKenna

Accepted: UNC
Rejected: None
Waitlist: Middlebury, UVA (lol what the heck?)

So, as of right now, I’m leaning towards UNC ;)

haha

would make the decision easy*

I’ve heard from all of my schools now! I was accepted at Georgetown, USC, and UVA.

Congrats! Good luck on making your decision.

Could you all please post your GPAs and other achievements you think would help? Also, are you all transferring first year or after two years?

I’m in a CC and did not take the SAT. I emailed them and they said since I didn’t take it it’s not required, so i hope my founding/leading of an organization, volunteer servicing, and high GPA/honors would assist me in moving forward.

I’m transferring from SUNY Stony Brook (the schools I had gotten into senior year were way too expensive) as a sophomore transfer. My college GPA was a 4.0 last semester, and it will most likely be the same or similar this semester. SAT: 2170, ACT: 32 or 33 (I don’t remember). Took 10 APs in high school and 2 college classes (the rest were honors for the most part). Ranked 10th/265. Was in 4 honor societies: National, French, German, and Spanish (first person to take all languages offered at my school). In HS, was president of French Club and had a bunch of other ECs. Freshman year of college, I was/(am?) events coordinator of Oxfam Club, secretary of Philosophical Society, and founder of a chapter of Students of a Sensible Drug Policy. Volunteer-wise, I’ve been volunteering with Long Island Food Not Bombs weekly and was (up until this hectic semester of 19 credits) heavily involved with the Manhattan Oxfam Action Corps, also on a weekly basis. Ranked nationally on French and Spanish exams (3rd in county/16th in country in former, 98th percentile in latter). I think that’s it.

Well, seeing as how none of us got in I’m not sure this information is going to be too helpful lol.

Waitlisted with:

~3.6 GPA from CC (lol, this is explained away)
~2100 SAT
Lots of EC’s in two specific areas
Outstanding essay (everybody says this, but mine was very, very good)
Recs: I would rank them an 8/10 - teachers put me in top 5% they’ve ever had and wrote good things about me

Applied after two years.

Anybody else? If you applied, please post in here!!

Rejected (Sophomore Transfer)

College GPA: 3.94
Current Major(s): Spanish and International Studies
HS GPA: 4.0
ACT: 36
ECs: Multiple activities that almost all had an international focus
Letter of Recommendation: I got one from the Spanish professor I had last semester. We got along well and I got an A in the class, so I figured why not! I don’t really want to comment on the letter since I didn’t see it, but I can’t imagine him saying anything “bad” haha.
Essay: I think it was pretty strong, but then again most people have this opinion concerning their essay. I do think that I struck a nice balance between highlighting the positive aspects of my current school while explaining that it wasn’t the best fit for me.
Comments: I was waitlisted when I applied as a freshman, so apparently I have gone downhill? Haha who knows! I’m happy I got admitted to the other schools to which I applied, and, as my mom told me earlier today, “I don’t think you would have been happy in the boondocks anyway.” :)

Wow. After seeing your guys’ clearly superior stats, it makes me feel lucky to at least be wait listed. Just goes to show you how random the college admissions process truly is.

Does anyone know the odds of getting off the wait list? Are transfers grouped in the same waitlist pool as the freshmen?

Ugh, Midd is my number one choice. I hope they accept a few off the wait list this year.

Hey guys! I was accepted, much to my surprise. I won’t be attending though so someone on the waitlist… All is not lost!

Can you post your stats?

And not to be intrusive, but I looked at your other posts and noticed that you will be attending NYU. Why NYU over Middlebury?

accepted! will most likely be attending in the fall. i’m definitely pleasantly surprised. the transfer process can be all over the place. sending good vibes everyone’s way!

CONGRATS to everyone who got accepted!

Did Midd say when is the last day accepted transfers have to indicate their intentions to enroll? I got waitlisted.

Congrats Sapphire! Are you going to attend?

Thanks. I’d love to, but the money may be an issue, so I’m not certain yet.

Yeah, I’ll be attending! :D

Congrats! You’ll love it there.

When was the deposit due?
