<p>No. My kid's stats are awesome, he did an interview, it seemed to go well (the interviewer went out of his way to wait around for me afterwards in order to meet me). Kid was deferred.</p>
<p>My interviewer emailed me after learning that I got deferred saying he was surprised that I didn't get in, and that I probably would in the regular round. So, I'm guessing, the interview didn't hold me back.</p>

What were those course numbers mean? Were those courses from MIT?

<p>Well, it's something you can do to help yourself, but it's certainly not something you have to do.</p>
<p>It is also probably not something you can do at this point -- selection committee will begin very soon, so the time for reading applications is very nearly over.</p>
