Congrats to everyone who got in!!! You guys are amazing and you deserve it!

And to those of you deferred or rejected, keep your heads up and get going on those RD applications; I’m sure you’ll all be happy wherever you end up, and you seem to be taking it well.

Crazy mom, honestly the applicant pool is SO competitive, that many great applicants who are smart, funny, great people, and committed "to personal excellence and principled goals" don’t get in, simply because there isn’t enough space. Don’t take it personally, and make sure your son doesn’t either. Remember, a rejection from MIT (or any other school) says NOTHING about your worth as a person.

pwaffles. Im pretty much exactly like you stat-wise except with an ACT score of 35 rather than SAT. However, i didn't update them with my siemens semifinalist status. After a few people today have told me how big of a mistake that was, seeing how similar we are except for MIT knowing im a semi has convinced me i made a big mistake haha. Congrats btw.

@holts, what did you play for your supplementary materials? They asked for solos when it seemed like excerpts would be more appropriate, but I guess it is ultimately up to them.

Big congratulations to everyone who got in! How exciting!

BTW the acceptance letter is the same for everyone, and the same as last year's, if you check Snively's blog and other sources. Form letter or not - SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Encryption, I also thought that excerpts would be more appropriate so I just played one concerto and the rest of the recording was standard excepts which seemed to work out just fine.

@ bballdude, aww you should have notified them! i think it helped me a lot.. if you got deferred though, you can still update your application and hopefully get in RD :)

Yeah I did get deferred and honestly I have everything you have except some more APs and some other minor stuff. I just didnt realize how important siemens was and since i had sent in my app before oct 19th i nvr updated them. stupid me huh?

I just didnt realize how important siemens was...
[/quote]
Well it's apparently not very important. I have Siemens Regional Finalist and USAMO and got deferred as well. Makes you wonder what MIT is looking for, eh?

Ok not bad. I'm like 35, 1/355, 4.0, 4.887 so i sorta needed the siemens to distinguish me from all the others. I just think that sorta contributed to my deferral because you always need something that is hook-like.

At least I know Matt checks the list of Siemens winners. I've read that in his blog a couple years back. I'd assume he still does that. I learned about that Siemens sends them the list from someone on this forum.

[]Essays: did the optional and thought both were good but I've gone back and edited my experience essay since November (it was about how a choke at the state geography bee championship round led to a change in my perspective on life)...optional essay is about my business (PM for details, should be launched within the next 10 days).
[]Teacher Recs:Great. According to my GC my humanities teacher rec was one of the best in the school's history, and
