^^ And an Intel finalist was rejected! That was a shocker to me

By the way, Intel ISEF finalist just means they made it to ISEF. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they won anything at ISEF. Sometimes it’s nothing spectacular. For instance, I was an ISEF finalist from my region; but my project wasn’t anything fantastic. Also, some of my friends got to ISEF on a really subpar project (the independent variable was the color of shockers (the candy)). So yeah, ISEF finalist doesn’t necessarily mean a lot.

Don’t get me wrong. This isn’t to say that being an ISEF finalist isn’t meaningful. It’s just not as meaningful as it sounds.

@komaromy31 sorry man that just popped out at me. Again, I don’t have your application in front of me!

I’m sure MIT deferred you for a reason!

Yes, I got accepted into MIT!!!

d/dx.

deferred, as was expected… but i’m looking forward to april! :)

Congrats Leibnitz!!

I was shocked that so few people got accepted. Not looking forward to competing with you guys RD. :p

OMG, I was admitted! So excited. Congrats to everyone who also got in, and good luck to others seeking RD admission. Hope to see you all at CPW!

just got into MIT!!! soooo stoked on life right now! you have no idea. didnt ever think i was smart enough to get in :D

You know what, I think I’ve mourned enough over this. MIT made it’s decision, and I’m fine with it. I’ll still apply to MIT for graduate school and probably for a job. I’ll always have a little spot for MIT in my heart, but sadly it’ll be next to the little MIT-shaped scar there too.

Anyway,
To the admitted students: Congratulations! I’m sure you all deserved it, and I hope you make the most out of it.

To the deferred students: Don’t give up hope! I’m wishing the best for all of you. Keep working hard, and good things will happen.

To my fellow rejected students: Don’t worry too much. No matter what, there’s a bright future ahead for all of us. If you’re still sad or crying as I was, I’d like to give you the words of one of my most beloved teachers: “Whether it happens to you when you are sleeping or when you are awake, you will get through it. There is no need to worry.”

I’m not sure how much more CC-ing I’ll be doing from now on, but it’s been a fantastic experience talking with all of you. I hope the best for everyone.

kldaace where else are you applying?

HYP, Columbia, UChicago, Emory, WashU, Duke, and the other tech. Though, I think I might drop some, and I’ll probably add Florida so I have a backup.

Wow, 123FMLGG how can they not accept you?! You’re so good!
I guess this just goes to show how arbitrary decisions are.

And your name just oozes acceptance–not bitter at all <3

You’ll get accepted somewhere awesome :D

Even though, i know its hard to think about going somewhere else right now…

Haha, thanks. I’m getting over it slowly though. It really helps having so many awesome friends giving you encouraging words and such.

Even random people from across the intertubes?

Yes, the random people from the intertubes are often equally if not more comforting. It really restores my faith in human beings or at least MIT applicants and people .

Well I’m glad! :D

man…if only we could call up the officers, tell them our names and ask them “could you please tell me why was i deferred/rejected?..how about for a chocolate chip cookie?”
nahh siiigh
i’m glad that i didn’t get rejected right away, even with my horrible horrible SAT score.
for those of you who got rejected, (and i apologize since you probably heard this a gazillion times by now) don’t.give.up! Each school has its own guidelines for selecting its class. You might be academically qualified or overqualified, but that wouldn’t be your ticket into some schools. I believe that MIT looks for creativity and non-standard way of thinking rather than solely geniuses with perfect SATs and grades. I’m not saying that you guys are not, (oh gosh no!), but there are plenty of other top notch schools who like fight over people like that.
i wont be surprised if that happens to you ;)
