<p>NOOOO!!! I emailed last night with the exact same question and got a flat out "NOOO!!".</p>
<p>They've already got enough information. They wouldn't have wait listed you otherwise. I read online that those who are on the wait list, have achieved the necessary academic requirements. However, you do need to email them to give an up date on what has happened to you over the past few months. Apparently, we're lacking some where in our EC's if we're wait listed.</p>
<p>Thanks! Did they ask you to provide info on your new ECs etc? That seems like additional information. Where did you read that we were fine academically but lacking in ECs?</p>
<p>I wouldn't bet on that being the only reason. I'm sure for every person, there is a different reason why you have been waitlisted. Why not kind of review your entire app and see where the "hole" is?</p>
<p>yepunsarang is right. It's not just your EC's. I was just taking an example of the app forms. In order to make the waitlist, you need to make the cut academically. Waitlisters are reserves and must be able to sub in for who ever drops out/doesn't accept a place.</p>
<p>I know that the 'hole' isn't so much my application as it is me. I'm 22, have been working for the past 4 years, dropped out of my first college, second college was less than 8 months (accelerated course), I work two jobs in completely different areas (full time hospital carer; part time camera operator/video editor for a music magazine).</p>
<p>They think I'm unpredictable and risky. However, I wouldn't be taking the biggest risk of my life if I wasn't ready to go back to college and study hard. I just need MoHo to see that.</p>

<p>Being wait-listed means the school has already determined you have the academic credentials; so nonacademic factors are more likely to sway admissions officials. Offer achievements that you may not have mentioned in your application and send new supplemental information. For example, maybe a terrific recommendation just came in. Emphasize your strong desire to attend the college and make a case for why you're a good fit. You can indicate that if accepted you'll enroll, but such a promise should be made only if you're absolutely certain. You can also enlist the help of an alumnus and your high school counselor.
* Study hard.
This is no time to slack off. If you're wait-listed, you may be reevaluated based on your third- and fourth-quarter grades.
* Stay involved.
Show admissions officers you're committed to sports, clubs, and other activities.
* Request another (or a first) interview.
An interview can give you a personal contact—someone who can check on the status of your application.
* Realize that you've already achieved something.
You were wait-listed, not turned away. Many students were not as successful.
* Reconsider the colleges that accepted you.
If you'll be just as happy at one of your second choices, send in that deposit and plan to attend there. You'll be surprised how much better you feel after the decision has been made.</p>

Prepare to attend another school by filling out the paperwork and sending in a deposit. <p>I'm on the waitlist as well. just found out that this year waitlist has reached over 500 applicants. and yet, they do not want any extra information so forget about boosting your chance. all we can do is wait. Also, I read on some other website. a few years ago nearly 400 on waitlist, nearly 300 agreed to remain there and ONLY 5 got in. By the way, they said there isn't any rank.</p>
<p>Yeah, I booked time off work as someone said I should try to get in interview. No such luck. I only got my waitlist letter yesterday, but I found out onlin ea couple of weeks ago that I was waitlisted. </p>
<p>I'm going to send back a NO reply. I worked so hard and I was so optimistic, but work is really starting to pick up now for me. Plus, like van_do said, no one is ranked. By the way, where did you find out the list details? I was told there'd be information with my waitlist letter, but I just got the letter.</p>

<p>hi guys, i get the info because i emailed Mount Holyoke and asked if there is a rank. i was told there are over 500 on the waitlist and nobody is ranked. anyway, finger crossed...</p>

<p>I accepted a spot -- figured, why not? The worst they can do is say "no". :P Sent my first- and second- trimester grades, too, but that was before I read that they don't want ANY additional info... eek. :/</p>
<p>I sent a couple of emails with updates, Deadlands. I wouldn't worry about it. Does anyone know where I can actually find into about the waitlist, without going thru adcoms? I'm sure they have enough on their plates right now.</p>
<p>Also, I know I haven't responded in a while, but I decided to wait on the list and ride it out. I've come this far I guess. I hope none of you think I was misleading. I was just having a down day. I have my fingers crossed for all of you. I'm already hearing that Grinnell has gone to their waitlist (2 days early), any news about other colleges?</p>

<p>At this point, if I get in off the waitlist, I don't think I'll go. I already have to take a year off due to finances, I'm not sure what MoHo's policy is on aid for admitted waitlist students, and I visited a school this past weekend where I think I'll be just as happy -- this one's letting me defer <em>and</em> take credit courses at my local community college over my gap year, so I sent my deposit there. :)</p>

<p>at this point, if i get off the waitlist, i also don't think i'll go. i got this NROTC scholarship to the Virginia Military Institute and think i will just go there (i know! opposite sort of school compared to MHC! LOL!)</p>

<p>It was the 13th day of Experience MHC, the event for admitted students, and the first day Director of Admissions Diane Anci didn't have to stand with her back against the wall because of the huge turnout by admitted students-even after the admissions office spread the event over 15 days instead of having it condensed into one day.</p>
<p>"We did our best to have this not be a zany project," said Anci. Over seven hundred admitted students signed up for Experience, and spreading the group out over 15 days was more manageable, said Anci. Admissions felt that having so many admitted students on campus all at once was too overwhelming for the College, current students and admitted students, and made the change in order to make it easier for all involved.</p>
<p>An extra 800 people on campus at once gave the school a "manufactured feel," said Anci. "While we always receive very good marks about how we manage the crowds, we thought, wouldn't it be nice if they could see Mount Holyoke in its natural state," said Anci. Not only did the change make tours easier, but more students were able to participate because there were more dates to choose from.</p>
<p>Next year the admissions office will continue to streamline the Experience program. The biggest change will be adding more options to visit classes, and there will be fewer overnight visits as well, as students find it taxing to host prospective students both during the day and overnight. "It backfires and doesn't serve anyone," said Anci. "We want to balance meeting [the admitted students'] needs against the pressure and stress on the Mount Holyoke community," she said.</p>
<p>Although admitted students are not required to commit to the College until May 1, the class of 2012 will have about 525 students come in the fall, 75 in the spring, 35-50 transfer students and 45 Frances Perkins students. The class was the second-largest pool admitted, after the class of 2011, but Anci said it was "probably the strongest in Mount Holyoke history."
