Hey thanks a lot for the information. Congrats on USC man. I hope I can go there in 2 years. So right now Im planning on applying to Mt. Sac. I have NO clue on how things at community colleges goes. Im like super confused. Im a high school senior right now. I cant find any useful information on the mount sac website either. Did registration start already? I kinda want to take a summer class or two but have no clue on what to take, how hard it is to get a class. I want to get into the honors program but is that hard to get into? My goal right now is to be a pharmacist. Im aiming for UCLA or USC ( it will be a dream come true if i can get into either one) But at the least I want to go to UCI or UCSD. How long did it take for you to transfer to USC? I heard you can transfer in a year?

haha not USC yet, but i applied. so hopefully!
but thanks for the encouraging words

registration didnt start for summer yet, so apply asap so you can get that out of the way. after you apply and get accepted you take the english/math/chem placement tests

def take summer. take any class that is a GE that you can manage to get. getting a class as a freshman is extremely difficult, but dont give up, everyone goes through it and manages to do it. if a class is full, check ALL the time and try to add it.

honors is not hard to get in. coming out a hs you need a 3.5 GPA, its on the website. if you dont have a 3.5 you can do what i did and take 9 transferable units and maintain a 3.2 GPA and youre in.

UCLA and USC are both possibilities. work hard and you can get in.
UCI and UCSD both have TAG so, if you maintain a 3.5 GPA and a few other things your guaranteed admission.

it took me about 1.5 years to transfer to USC with 55 units, so if im accepted ill be accepted as a sophmore. but after i class or two ill be a junior.

yes you can transfer in 1 year if you bust your ass. if you can manage to do this. do it. if not dont. 1 year is really stressful. USC only requires 30 units to transfer so you can get out really fast. but UC’s require 60 units. so ive seen people do it in 1 year, but they are beasts.

be sure to check back with me once uve graduated :D

Thanks a lot for the info. VERY VERY helpful. Read your post wrong haha, but good luck on USC! Hope you get in!

Im going to apply online tomorrow then. Do you know when does fall start?

I think Im going to apply to both Mt Sac and PCC just like you said in the other thread just to make sure I can get classes. If I go to both, will that affect me transferring?

Just wondering, did you have good grades in HS to be able to get almost a 4.0 at Mt sac?

Fall wont start for a long while.
but summer starts JUNE 28th

LOL ■■■ no. i graduated walnut hs with a 2.07 GPA and i didnt even take the SATs.
its all about your attitude and work ethic.

going to both will not affect your transferring, just make sure the courses you take at both are transferable and equivalent to what you need.

assist.org tells you all the info you need on UCs
“USC Articulation agreement” and it tells you everything for USC.

Holy sheit, damn you really motivate me now lol I have about a 2.8 in HS I messed up a lot that if I had the chance to re-do HS again, I know I could do a LOT better and not be in this position I’m in right now. Thanks for the info and links. Will check it out right now.

If I want to be a pharmacist, what major should I select? When I select a major on the MTSAC app, do I select the one with transfer- ? For term, i select summer 2010 right? Do I have to apply again for fall?

u only have to apply to sac once. what HS are u coming from?

and yes summer 2010.
major wise, id talk to a counselor about that. id say chemistry or something along those lines. dont worry, if you get into the honors program ill get you THE best counselor. she is an angel sent down from the transfer heavens.

for now you can put undecided if you want. it really doesnt matter for SAC.

Thanks. Im gonna put down undecided. Im coming from a HS in the 626 area. For the goal question, what is an associate degree? Im not sure whether to put down the one that says transfer to 4 yr institution with associate degree or transfer to 4 yr without associate degree. Probably not a important question on the app but just want to get it right haha

Nvm about the question. I put down without associate degree. I really appreciate the help so far. Thanks!

So I got an email today saying “Thank you for using our online application. Within two weeks you should receive a letter informing you of how you can claim your student account using your assigned User Name. Claiming your account gives you special online access for registration and to the portal that will provide you the most current and timely information about your admission status, registration appointments, financial aid status, required documents/tests and other important information.”

What do I do now? Just wait?

yup. once u got all that stuff, claim your account online. then make an appointment to take your placement tests in the student services building.

So I got the letter today (pretty damn quick haha) and claimed the account online. On the letter it says to click onto 8. registration appointment/hold and this will show your date and time to register as well as any holds that may prevent you from registering. But once I click it I cant see summer 2010 or fall 2010?
http://i40.■■■■■■■.com/nozgqv.jpg

What are the ways to get priority registration?

@blackmamba - they wont show summer 2010 till summer 2010 registration is close by. like a week or a few days away from the start of summer registration. same with fall. you wont see either for a while. maybe in…late may-june.

@whimsical - if you do student government or are an athlete or are disabled you can get priority registration. otherwise…seniority wins. if you dont apply to either of those 3, find a friend at mtsac who can hold classes for you. :D

Oh alright. Can I make an appointment for the placement test online? Do I have to take them asap? Does taking it earlier like give me better registration date or is the registration date according to the applying date?

Want to elaborate how a friend can hold classes? lol

i believe u have to make the appointment in person. but im really not sure at all. try calling.
im pretty sure im wrong.

u dont have to take them ASAP. but the sooner the better, because atelast ull have a fresh memory of your HS education/classes. and if u take it now, you wont have to deal with battling other applicants for an appointment when summer/fall comes around.

nope taking them earlier doesnt give u any priority. however, if u take them now and dont pass where u want to pass, take the test again in 3 months and u can place into it after studying. :D

a friend can hold classes for you if he/she is already at sac and has an early registration date than others. so they would basically add the class YOU want to take, and wait till your registration date comes along and drops it as you add it. so its like…reserving a spot haha.

but keep in mind, most of the ppl with senority or have early registration dates, most likely have already taken a lot of classes that you will need. and you cant retake classes you’ve already passed. so therefore they cant add any class they’ve already taken.

but many people do this haha, so the best way is still student government :)

Gotcha. Thanks. So all FTF without priority have the same registration date and time? Damn its gonna be madness. haha

I dont know anyone at MT Sac. =(

dunno what FTF means haha, but not everyone will have the same registration date and time. you get your own private slot of 1 hour i think. but because there are so many students you can only imagine how far your registration date will be pushed back.

once you come, if im still there, ill help you get familiar with some peeps.
once your in honors you’ll meet ppl left n right. small/hard classes = forced friendships haha

FTF= first time freshmen. haha

Cool. If I do well on the placement test, can I get into honors that way or it has to be GPA?
