hahahh no no. all my friends from HS tell me all the time how much they hate pcc

What HS did you go to?

arcadia high. you?

compared to mtsac, PCC is almost a heaven.

mtsac is packed with students and its near impossible to get classes/parking.

PCC is the opposite. i know PCC students who do well in their scholars program…ive never heard of it being that hard.

@churroke- id ask anyway. i went in when i was still in english 68 as well. atleast you didnt have a 2.07 HS GPA. now thats something to be slightly embarrassed about haha

and “that dude” who is first to do everything, he better be after 9 years. if he wasnt turning things in and being ontop of his work after 9 years, he may be in even more trouble than he already is in. like i said, UNLESS he has some legitimate reason as to why he is there at mtsac for 9 years trying to transfer, DO NOT look up to him. look up to the students who transferred in 1 year, 2 years, even 3 years. but not 9.

my friend from singapore didnt speak very good english and pulled a 4.0 and is now at CAL. he did this in 1 year. he is someone i looked up too

@Dainese…I know friends from Taiwan that came here 3 years ago…that doesn’t speak very well English…but THESE PPL ARE the one that’s good at WRITING, READING, ANALYSIS, basically everything else…and he’s in UCLA right now…straight from high school …so speaking good english doesn’t make a difference man.

AND being a BioEngineer major and below 67 right now AND (at least 4 Bio class, 5 Chem class, 3 Java computer class, 5 physic class, not men chant Eng1A and C) before I can transfer…definitely NOT something I can do in 2,3 years…

so seeing people get out in 1 year…it’s more depressing and how badly behind I am from every1 else.

^ oo where have u met ppl who get out that fast… i think the avg years the ppl i talked to who go to mt sac spend is like 4 years D8 … makes me more determined to get out in 2 (so I can be like YES I GOT OUT IN 2) but at the same time it makes me scared that its an impossible feat :T
oh yeah! if it has not been emphasized enough: LINDA DIAZ REALLY IS THE BEST COUNSELOR!! She’s so nice and helpful and full of information! I learned SO much from her about transfering to LA/TAP in that 30 min I had with her the other day (: !! And she even took the time to go over my 2 year plan with me (but I prepared a lot of info about what I wanted to do first/classes I planned to take/pre-reqs for my major so you should do all that too before you go talk to her cos time with her is PRECIOUS! <– getting an appt with her was hard…) Thanks Dainese for recommending her in the first place nn ! kekeke

@blueskin I backed out of Chapman cause of financial reasons…they didn’t even try working with me even though i submitted a changes in circumstances form (since my parents lost their jobs) but oh well i’m saving my family TONS of money going to PCC. Since i’m only a first time freshman I don’t really know what to expect out of the scholars program. I’m currently enrolled in one honors class Psych 25 *human sexuality…the class isn’t too difficult so far, but i’m not going to underestimate anything just be ready for the workload lol.and you get priority registration for being in scholars program and they have specific block classes that scholar students can only register for. Make sure you fill out the application and turn it in. Go see Harry Bloodgood at PCC hes the scholars counselor… Hes REALLY helpful and nice (just like linda at mtsac honors center) and idk why your friends tell you PCC is depressing, i’m actually somewhat enjoying my experience there. It’ll make a good transition from hs and eventually transferring to a four year university. My classes are great, instructors are great…except for one of em… LOL. parkings SO much easier as compared to Mt. sac (pcc has parking structures)

@churroke - i see your stand point now, sorry. that is a heavy load, but not impractical. do those 5 chem classes include chem 40? cuz u can place directly into chem 50 with the chem placement test.

and i really think you should try to place into a higher english. get some tutoring at the writing center and take it again so u can jump right into 1A. thats 2 semesters or moer of english you just skipped if you dedicate yourself to really learning how to write :)

then 3 years wont look so impossible.

talk to linda. trust me.

@sunny - glad to hear linda helped you
she really is great, a life saver.

speakbraille thanks so much! im glad i finally found someone who isn’t so negative about pcc. and now i’m also glad that i didn’t choose to go to mt. sac! goodness! however, pcc is an hour drive for me!! oh another question, so when you’re registered in the scholars program, you get priority registration for both honor and non-honor classes?? also, do they look at 9-12 grade from hs or only senior grades? because my senior grades were horrible and are not 3.0

@blueskin well technically they look at all four years but i never sent in my transcript it…but i talked to harry bloodgood (scholars counselor) they pretty much take your word for it (at least thats what he said with me lol) and yeah…you live out in riverside? traffics gonna be horrible…you gotta deal with the 60…then get on the 57…then the 10 or 210 …but theyre ALL jammed packed in traffic in the morning. usually it takes me an hour and a half to get to school cause of traffic. but on the days i have like afternoonish classes it takes me like 20 minutes lol

and btw i think you get priority registration for NON honors classes AND honors classes because i got a confirmation email saying i was accepted into the scholars program and it mentioned a priority registration date!

and is it possible to take both honor and non-honor classes at the same time? or do we have to take honor classes when enrolled in the scholars program? my friend at pcc told me that the program gives the hardest teachers and the hardest workload… lol so idk. just gotta be careful i guess and work hard

yes thats what im doing right now lol i only have 1 honors class (psych 25) rest are just other GEs. depends on what you sign up for, if you sign for scholar block program then you take like…3 honors classes depending on what the block is. and yeah definitely be careful but you gotta do what you gotta do…i wanna ■■■■ in 2 years hopefully.

oh oops disregard above. you already answered it for me LOL sweeet! ill definitely talk to harry bloodgood… i hope you can just walk in and not have to make an appt? and yeah i live in riverside, it took me an hour without traffic!! i went to pcc today actually! i have to go on the 15N then 10W then 210W… yikes! yeah traffic is definitely bumper to bumper in the mornings. lol hey! maybe we will see each other since we’re both first time freshman.

yeahhh nobody wants to stay at a CC for more than 2 years! i still have friends there that are working on their third year… i feel so bad for them

so you live near mtsac and it only takes you 20 min without traffic?? lucky youu!

yeah I live in diamond bar …right next to sac
one of the main reasons i chose pcc over sac was cause of scholars priority registration lol and yeah …20 minutes with no traffic but i have a place to sleep over there at pasadena but when im driving to school in the morning…usually takes me an hour and a half to get to school…but you live even farther…i dont know how you’re gonna cope with the traffic
i get angry

traffic on the 210 sucks.
im living in pasadena and commuting to USC.
traffic sucks. find local streets to skip traffic!!!

especially when we’re driving manual tranny… ■■■
