**OFFICIAL Mt SAC CC TRANSFER THREAD**

Thanks I have more questions

I had to take some remedial writing classes, do those count toward my 30 credits needed in order to apply for admissions?

Also, some schools only allow like 60 credits to be transferred, what if I had like 120? Can I still get in even if they don’t allow more than 60?

No they dont. They only look at transferable.

You get subject credit if you’re over 70 for a UC and 64 for USC.

Thanks blackmamba

would joining the summer bridge program help me get in to a UC?

im curently a high school senior and i plan on becoming an air force pilot in the future and one of the requirement is to earn a BA degree and becoming an officer through rotc or otc.
does mt sac have the air force rotc?

i also heard that mt sac has the air traffic control program, can i join that including taking classes so i can transfer to uci, ucla, ucd majoring in aerospace engineering.

i really want to be apart of the aviation industry.

I don’t know about our ROTC program, but air traffic control is not a major path to transferring in engineering. To transfer as an engineer you’ll need basically all the math, physics, and general ed stuff you can take.
Here’s a link to the transfer agreement for UCLA in Aerospace
[ASSIST Report: MTSAC 11-12 UCLA Articulation Agreement by Major](http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=MTSAC&ria=UCLA&ia=MTSAC&oia=UCLA&aay=11-12&ay=11-12&dora=AERO)

@JetLogic: Quite honestly, I have no idea what the name of the grant is. All I know is that I’m being considered for it and finishing the math series would help me garner more consideration, or at least that’s what some of my advisors have told me…

Anyway, anyone else bored to hell by the winter intersession? These GE classes are too easy! I wish they offered some higher level science courses for the intersessions.

Dainese, do you know if eng 1a is transferable to USC?

I got an f the first time, but recently took it again and got an A., I know USC doesn’t honor academic forgiveness so if eng 1a is non transferable, then the f won’t hurt my transfer gpa

It transfers…

But on the articulation agreement I only see eng 1b,.and 1c. I don’t see anything regarding eng 1a?

It transfers as units… scroll to bottom.

Pg. 100 btw :D

@jetlogic

my plan after high school in order:

1 become an airforce pilot which requires me to become an officer through the rotc where i must earn a BA in literally any field but preferably a science degree
2 if i cant become an airforce pilot then my next option is to become an air traffic controller (i heard its one of the highest paying jobs)
3 use the degree i may have to get a job

It’s kind of crazy seeing this thread get to 100 pages, in a really good way. All of you guys that help out are great, with extra credit going to Dainese of course. This coming Spring will mark the end of two years at Mt. SAC for me, two pretty amazing years that was greatly influenced by aforementioned awesome people. Hopefully this thread stays alive to help other college newbies with no real idea of how CC works.

@vtlord - I’m glad you have it planned out, but I would just stick to step one for right now. You may take one semester at SAC and realize that you’re extremely passionate about a subject and end up wondering what you were thinking of in the first place. Having firm goals is great, but my best advice is to enjoy the hell out of it and make some great friend at SAC; there is no cap to the number of interesting people who go (and teach (get to know professors!)) to/at Mt. SAC.

@jetlogic

would you mind telling what kind of class did you take?

my classmates laugh at their friends when they say they maybe going to mt sac solely because they think CCs are for dumb people who didnt take the sat or any ap classes or just because they had a low gpa. are the majority of the students like that?

@cyse - yup blackmamba is correct
however, it may not transfer if it was taken during an intersession period, my ENG1AH did NOT transfer because i took it during the summer. and if i wanted to get that credit id have to petition for it…but things may have changed, so always double check.

and if it does bother you a lot that you have a F, you can list why on your personal statement. the admission boards at any school are still human beings who hopefully have some compassion left for the future of their schools. everyone will face challenges, and doing well just depends on how you handle them. do well in ENG1C/H. you’ve already retaken the class and got an A, good job. keep working hard

@vtlord
quite honestly, the stereotype of CCs are taking a slight shift but you will encounter the majority of students being apart of a group of lower academic standards. i came into mtsac with a 2.07, no SAT score, and no AP classes. so i definitely fit the description. but that doesnt mean that im dumb or that it would stop me from getting stellar grades.

you will meet some of the best profs at mtsac, some great friends, and you will come to love/hate mtsac. hate it for the ****ty parking, tickets, impacted everything…you name it. but you’ll come to love it as your first alma mater. even though im at USC, i will always owe mtsac more than what anything USC can offer me. without mtsac, there would be no chance to even get into USC.

ull be fine :)

@everyone else
thanks for keeping this thread alive. 100 pages…haha i was not expecting this. its awesome to see that this thread dominates the CC section and probably most, if not all, other sections. thanks blackmamba and jetlogic for sticking it out with me.

its been a little under 2 years since ive left mtsac. my experience since then has been indescribable. and because i owe mtsac so much, particularly the honors department, i felt i should make this thread. but again, without the people to ask questions, this thread would be nothing and it would get lost amongst the background.

Thanks everyone :slight_smile:
hopefully i can be at your transfer ceremonies.
you should really attend those btw, you’ll get a fancy medal! and a certificate! haha

i really cant wait to see where everyone ends up transferring :slight_smile:
it doesnt have to be a top school, as long as its your dream school.
and if anyone wants to visit SC, pm me and ill give you the tour :D

That’s great, Dainese! I wish you all the best!

how do i get into the honors club?

how can i get financial aid for mt sac?

if i get into the summer bridge program, can i join the honors club?

what kind of scholarships can i receive?

What’s the bridge program?

How do I know if I qualify for a tag/tap?

how do i receive scholarships, financial aid , and grants for mt sac?

i’ve already heard of fafsa. but nothing more.

hurray for #1500 post!
