i hate to bring up personal issues but i have a hard time meeting new people. i know the A students in the difficult classes will have some sort of help or someone to ask for help when they actually need help. i dont want to be the quiet person who doesn’t know anything in the class.

@lachesis4687 where do you plan on transferring to?

what kind of math will i be doing if i did aerospace

@vtlord - Any engineer will typically take the single calculus series (Math 180, 181) and then move onto multivariable calc (Math 280) and then onto Linear Algebra Differential Equations (Math 285). After transferring you’ll probably take more applied math, maybe another diff eq class. I’m pure math, so I’m not really sure what your post-transfer mathematics will be, as mine will be far different.

would it be better to take humanities 1 or nutrition of food as a gen. ed. for the spring semester? I am currently enrolled in NF but i am able to finally register for humanities.Since they’re both conflicting in times i have to choose. Should i choose humanities over NF?

@thatoneotherguy

It depends on whether you’re trying to follow the IGETC course pattern. From what I see, the humanities course would fulfill part of the requirements while the nutrition one wouldn’t, so I’d say you should go with the humanities course.
If you’re not following the IGETC pattern and you’re just trying to fulfill the CSU GE requirements, however, it really depends on what you want to take since I believe both classes fulfill some part of those requirements. You might want to double check on your own, though, just to make sure I’m not making a mistake.

@Vltord

There is some help offered for those classes, it’s just that it’s hard to come by considering so many other students are seeking that same help.
It’s not like the work is impossible to do on your own either, I’ve been able to do it primarily on my own. The highest level math class I took in high school was trigonometry, I never even took physics, and yet I’ve been one of the top students in each of my classes. It’s just a matter of putting the time and effort into studying the material that is being taught.

It’s okay if you have a tough time meeting new people, btw. A good portion of the professors at the school are more than willing to help you if they see that you’re working hard.

You really shouldn’t worry about any of this at this point though, especially considering you still have your senior year in high school to finish. I think one of the negative aspects of trying to plan for college is that students tend to overthink everything. Just take care of the essentials like financial aid and actually registering for the school, and you can figure out the rest once you’re here. That’s what I did and I’ve been pretty successful.

I was considering transferring out after the Spring, but I haven’t finished taking all the classes I need so I decided to stay another year in order to save money. I’d like to transfer to Berkeley or UCLA, with the latter being my top pick, but I’d be happy going to UCSD too, which is my backup because of the TAG program.

what was your gpa in high school?

Ok, so I’m currently #10 waitlisted on CSCI 110
and spring semester begins next week!!!
Is there any chance that I’ll get that class? :O

sure. if people dont pay their fees on time, or if people simply drop it.

be patient and have back up plans ready.

@Vltord

I had a 2.1 GPA. Quite honestly, I don’t think I was supposed to graduate due to too many failed classes, but my high school is notorious for giving diplomas to those that don’t meet the necessary requirements to graduate.

hey guys I just wanted to clarify this one last time before spring sems begins, if my chemistry class that i’m waitlisted for has a lab and a class on the same day but the lab begins earlier than the class, I go to the lab first right? meaning there is lab on the first week/first day?

I’m really confuse about the chem class, which one is the lab? the 1 hour 25 mins. or the 4 hours?

Yes there is lab first day.

Lab is 4 hours.

Question…

For Physics 4A (Phys4a) It says Prereq is Phys2AG. However, it also says ‘Corequisite: Math 181’.

So my question is, if i’ve already done math 181 can i just enroll into Physics 4a? or do i need to take the pre Physics 4A classes to get it?

@Cyse00

If you have already taken phys 2ag and math 181 before, then you can enroll into Physics 4a.

if you haven’t taken phys 2ag before then you need to take phys 2ag first before taking phys 4a.

corequisite means that you you should take phys 4a along with math 181(but since you’ve already taken 181 then there’s no problem)

@Cyse00 - If you’re decent in math/physics, you can talk a counselor into letting you skip 2AG (which is what I did)

Thanks guys. Its nice knowing there’s so many Mt.sac students on here to answer questions.

@cyse - i couldnt agree more :)

Jetlogic, are you doing all the pre reqs for aerospace engineering?

I probably have done all of them except Statics/Dynamics. For the first two years, mathematics and engineering majors share pretty similar classes. I’ve gone through all the math and physics courses. Done Bio, astro, and still working on chem. So I’ve pretty much done all the stuff an aerospace engineer would.

Sweet. Where and what are you trying to get into?
