Thanks, Dainese! I’m still kind of in a daze from it all. I’m also a little sad to leave Mt. SAC - it’s been a good two years

Sup guys, how did you know what it was you wanted to pursue?

Im in a dilemma between Econ and Mechanical Eng. and the pre-reqs are quite different from one another, Grrrr…

If i do the Econ i can get into Honors and qualify for a tap, but i see alot of the UCLA and UCB transfers for Econ have 4.0s. That might be a little bit of a stretch for me.

MechE- Harder, but cooler.
Econ- Easier, but might be difficult to transfer with a perfect 4.0

I’m 26, i still don’t know exactly what i want to do. It’s embarassing, it really is!

…Help?

For me it was a case of passion and ability. I really can’t imagine doing anything else; I know what I have a future in doing so I chose it to be my major.

I made a thread, but I guess I’ll post here just in case.

How hard is it to get into classes like Bio 1, Chem 14, Anatomy 35 and 36, Microbiology 1 or 22, and Nutrition and Food 25? I’m not a freshman looking to get an AA or to transfer. I’m trying to do pre reqs for MSN programs.

Also, how difficult are these classes? I know at UCLA, for instance, the equivalent of those classes, especially microbiology and anatomy, are pretty difficult. There’s a bell curve where top 1/3 gets A to B+, and then the bottom 1/2 where everyone else gets B- or C+ and below.

hey sorry for not seeing your thread!

i usually only check my own since its a lot easier…
but i believe classes at mtsac arent quite comparable to classes taken at UCLA.

i think they’re much easier.
but that could just be me and my study ethics back then which may have changed now…lol

any other opinions?

Are study groups just groups formed by students in the class to meet up at a spot of their preference? Or is it something ‘official’ with the professor?

lmao i feel like a reject asking that (Ive never had to study outside the class with a group before)

Just made by students. It’s all up to you

Hi, I’m looking to transfer to Mt. Sac HOPEFULLY by this fall 2012. I’m a current undergrad at Long Beach City College and here I only need English1 and Sociology1 until I fulfill their A.S. general ed requirements. First, I’ll have to see if my gen ed classes are even transferable, but I’d still like to know what the outlook is at Mt. SAC. I’m 20 and considering I’ve completed most if not all my g.e. courses, will my chance in joining the aviation science program for A.S. degree be limited due to impact issues? It should be the program for air traffic controlling. And if so, what’re my chances of getting FAA employment before 31? Please let me know, thankss.

thats a pretty specific question that i definitely dont have the answer to as im not familiar with the aviation program at all.

i think only the department could help you there
sorry.
but if anyone does know, feel free to post.

I apologize in advance for this broad question, but what are some less-known and less-popular courses at Sac that I can take this summer in order to fulfill my GE reqs at Berkeley? I’m hoping to knock out some GE classes to get a leg up. Thanks!

i think things have changed since i was at mtsac…haha
but when i was there…both summer and winter classes were all getting filled

the non required english classes didnt get touched but many were nontransferable for UCs
i took ENG1BH
another class thats fairly easy to get was history of jazz
anything towards the liberal arts tends to be on the less impacted side whereas hard sciences will get impacted the most.

philosphy is probably one that is untouched too
history of art IE asian, western, gothic etc.

i just received a letter from the summer bridge program and it turns out i was rejected :(. i feel so clueless as what to do right now. It was my plan to get in to the summer program and get familiarized with the campus and students. I’ve been thinking lately that i really want to get out of CC in two years but i don’t know what to do! is there someone I can talk to?

i also received my placement scores last week i got lern81- improving writing :(

Has anyone here managed to get any summer classes as an incoming freshman? I have the 23rd for registration, so I figure my chances are rather low. I’ll remain hopeful for now, but it would be extra reassuring if others managed to do it.

I’d recommend taking a class of no real importance (ie. Gym, swimming, maybe even piano) so when fall comes around you won’t have as hard a time getting classes as if it were your first.

@vltord: Sorry to hear that. You can visit their office on Monday at building 9D, and they will able to answer all your questions. Here is their website: [Welcome to Mt. San Antonio College](http://www.mtsac.edu/students/bridge/)

Well here we go again. All engl 1c classes full already for summer, and I cant get into Math 150 since im taking 61 right now and the semester ends mid june. Will it let me add the class? My reg. date is tomorrow…

Been thinking about going to Citrus as well or another CC while attending MT.SAC too. Would there be a problem in transferring to a UC?

@nifloe: School allows you to enroll into Math 150 while you are still taking 61, as long as it is the only prerequisite for 150.

I have attended 7 community colleges including Mt. Sac, and most of time, I attended 2 or more colleges at same time. I got into to all seven UCs that I applied, including UCB and UCLA. It does really not matter to UCs as how many community colleges you attended, as long as you list all of your courses on your UC application.

Citrus would be a good choose, you can also consider Rio Hondo College, they offer many online course that qualifies IGETC.

@vtlord - that sucks :(

its getting quite competitive. id suggest getting familiarized with a counselor at mtsac and seeing what your options are. although transferring in 2 years is ideal, its not the case for most community college students these days. :(

@auriauri - yup there are definitely classes you can take! aim for GEs if they are all full, stay patient and keep checking on them daily. people will drop GEs like art history, music appreciation etc.

and if you are super desperate, its like cyse said…get any sort of units just to give you some sort of seniority coming into the fall semester. but i doubt (and i hope) none of you will ever have to do this…lol

@moon9kittie - you are a beast…7 ccs…thats a record lol.

@nifloe - its like what moon said, just get ready for the commute and make sure your grades arent suffering because of the commute. traffic. sucks.

@moon: 61 and 71 (i’ve already taken) are the prereqs for Math 150 and im taking 61 right now, thanks I was able to register for it. Is trig gonna be a challenge in the summer? Im taking Tamayo or Perez (ive read both are great professors).

And ill look into applying for Citrus and attending SAC at the same time this Fall I believe. Should I apply ASAP to another CC (Citrus, Rio, etc?). Never attended 2 at the same time before.

@Dainese: Its the worst dude.
