Thank you @texaspg, @intparent, @Dragonoh, all for your answers. Congratulations to you @Dragonoh! I agree with @Tangge, would you be kind enough to share? Thank you, all.

Maybe start a different thread or private message on that, so we can keep this discussion on the NMSF issues for this year. :)

Anyone hear on NM Finalist status yet?

neil29902…Schools are notified on 1/31. No one has received notification yet.

Does anyone know how schools are notified? Regular mail, email, maybe an online account? Thanks!

Letters are mailed to the schools today. See this post.

I wonder if they actually mail the letters and certificates to the High Schools or if they send everything electronically? I learned this year that the Semi-Finalist documents were all sent electronically to the High School and they print them out. That would put them in their hands today. I sent an email to my son’s Guidance Counselor to check and see if any news came in! Will post as soon as I have any information!

I would think they’d mail it due to the certificates. I’m sure they’re nicer than could be printed on school printers. I’m hoping they email the info in addition to mailing hard copies today. Let us know what you find out!

This is old. Someone should start a 2014 competition thread.

It’s not old; I’m still here, waiting for my scholarship.

@Rivstein, feel free to start a thread for 2014, meanwhile the class of 2013 should be getting thier notifications in the weeks to come and are hanging out, waiting to share.

Soonermom95: my son was one of the $2,500 NM scholar award recipients last year. The certificates are printed on nice heavy stock paper by NM Corp. and mailed to the school. My son’s English teacher gave him both certificates.

Oh I’m sorry, I misread one of the posts. I thought someone inquired about NMSF notifications. I didn’t realize it was NMF. Alright…

Omg I hate waiting!!!

School has been notified. School was instructed not to release any information by certain date. Students should be notified on Feb 7.

I asked our guidance secretary today and she said she hasn’t seen anything yet but that it should be soon. (Maine)

Last year, the posts show that the kids recieved letters in the mail a few days before the targeted date. So, letters should be in the mail in the next couple of days!

Do most kids find out at school from their principal, or do they have to wait until student letters are sent home? Ugh - tell us already!

Every school has its own idea of how to handle this. Ours always has 10-20 NMFs and the principal calls the students to the office for a private handing out of the certificates. I expect it will happen today or tomorrow at our school if they were received on Friday or in today’s mail. I think they try to do a little group recognition before the students get the letter at home.

My son was presented his NMF certificate during school chapel service today! He’s heading to Carleton in the fall! I’m so excited for him!!

Congrats, MNmom2013!! I am a Carleton grad and absolutely loved Carleton. It prepared me well for med school, had great liberal arts classes, wonderful music (I took organ), and I made lifelong friends there. We live in MO (still waiting to here on my son’s finalist status…), and he loved Carleton too and interviewed in June but decided to go to Amherst. Best of luck to your son!
