I was deferred in ED, then they took me in RD. keep the hope alive.

wow! lucky you!! in my case dude i was fully prepared for an outright reject. deferral just gave birth to hope :|

did you send any extra materials or recommendations later?? damn i soooo wanna get in noww!!!

@sixstringrocker and User95… which college did you get deferred from? write that too… that would be informative for other users…

And I would like to be villain here… and suggest you guys not to set your heart on ur ED college. A lot get deferred these days… especially with international admission… it simply may mean… that college wants you to compare with total international pool…

ohh well. I ED’d University of Pennsylvania, and as above mentioned was deferred.

@specific: you’re not being a villain. you’re just being brutally honest in a way that brings my currently oversized ego back on earth. and dude, i already set my heart on Penn or i wouldn’t have ED’d it. but what you said is almost true too. almost 50% of people on Penn thread at CC are deferred but its not just internationals.

just got my fingers crossed till the end of March and hands full with my RD applications. :|

I got deferred from Lafayette. I’m a class of 2014.

What a void.

haha. tell me 'bout it. seems like i’m the only one in cc this year who got their ED decision.

For now, yes. Wait for five more days and this thread will be spammed!

aahh… but i still doubt it, there are just so few of us regularly on cc this year and some of them like specific aren’t even applying ED :|

oohh hurray!! i just crossed the century mark it seems XD

LOL! Congratulations?
And Brown’s result is out. Anyone?

Amherst’s and Macalester’s decisions are out as well.

Wesleyan University:1 RBS=1

Congratulations!!! Is it you, EyeAmMe?

anyways, it seems like I shouldn’t put my hopes high for Wesleyan now, since i applied RD and one Nepalese friend has already got in… what is the chance that they might take another Nepalese (not necessarily me) during RD?

User95, gotta tell you (just so that you don’t hope too much), being deferred is not a big deal. It’s very common these days, esp. if you are an international student applying for a huge financial aid, and unless the college is absolutely disapproving of your application, they will most probably defer you. Although that doesn’t reflect anything on what might happen in the RD round, don’t be too much hopeful just because you are deferred, and thinking that it really means something. Work hard on your RD apps; all the best!

^don’t worry dude. i know better than to pine for an ivy. its just that when you open the email expecting a sure rejection and you’re deferred from your dream college, its a great feeling to know you were at least considered. as for what happens next, fingers crossed. :D

and thanks for the luck, i need it :D:D

Don’t be too naive to say that you were expecting a sure rejection. If that had been the case, you wouldn’t have applied ED there in the very first place. Rest assured, there are no any ideal applicants to any school. Everybody applies to a school (be it Ivy or any other) in the hope that he/she will be accepted, and without any prior assurances. Believe in yourself. Take helps from CC, but don’t let the people here appraise whether your qualifications are in terms with a particular school or not. Match-making is an absolute BS. And, if you are willing to believe me, standardized test scores are the least significant factors in judging an applicant, esp. in top institutions like Ivy league-ers! Work passionately on your essays, and you never know what may happen! :)

wesleyan was in my list too. I dont think they will have enough aid to provide to another nepali. But I think it is worth trying.

@specific Nah,its not me. I wished though! XD
