Hello fellow waitlisters. Allow us to use this thread to share our stats, intentions, feelings, and ultimate decision with regards to our status as limbo (waitlisted) applicants.
I’ll start us off:
I was waitlisted today, and I’m a west coast applicant.
My GPA UW is a 3.58, reflecting a steep upward trend in both rigor and marks
SAT II: 720 Lit
SAT I: 1440/2140
Essays: Pretty good
Recs: I’m assuming they were strong
ECs: Very strong
I put myself on the waitlist the instant I got my decision
p.s. If anyone is feeling disillusioned by being waitlisted, DON’T. Keep in my that Northeastern is a very selective school that flat-out rejects many qualified applicants. We’re all in this together, people!
GPA: 3.54 W 4.1 W
SAT: 2120/1430
ECs pretty good, lots of leadership
Essay: not extraordinary
Recs: pretty good I’m assuming
In comparison to the pool of accepted students, my stats are a little weak so I guess I understand why I got waitlisted, but it still doesn’t feel too great to not be accepted into my first choice. Does anybody know how many waitlisted students got accepted in previous years?
I’m not feeling too confident in my application, even if they do give it a second look. What action can I take that wouldn’t annoy admissions officers? Should I let them know of new awards I’ve won or would it not be worth it?

Northeastern was also my #1 choice, and I am a little bummed out. I am waiting to hear back from Boston University on Saturday, but I am very nervous about my chances now after last night. Wishing everyone the best of luck.

I probably got wait listed because my stats were kind of low, maybe if I had applied early I would have had a better chance of getting accepted. Pretty bummed considering NU was my first choice and not loving any of my other options. Hope everyone’s waiting pays off.
Don’t be deterred, there’s likely to be a lot of openings. I got accepted EA and plan to attend, but from what I’ve heard a lot of people trying to get into Ivy Leagues use Northeastern as a backup school. Email your admissions councilors and ask if there’s anything you can do to improve your chances, tell them that they’re your first choice, tell them what you can contribute to the campus that may not have gotten through on the application, etc etc. Good luck to all of you!
On the other hand, Northeastern anticipates that a lot of students will be using it as an Ivy-league backup, so they aim to admit enough students accordingly. It’s really tough to say how many students will be admitted off of the wait list. I think it has varied a lot year-to-year recently. The school’s constant movement in the rankings and this year’s addition of early decision make it really tough to predict the chances. But you guys are right - if you’re still interested, advocate for yourselves!
All of this waiting has been brutal. I applied early, got deferred, and then waitlisted. I just want an exact answer. Praying that it’s a “yes.” Does anyone have any guess on when they’ll start notifying people?
Has anyone been notified?? I’d be in peace with myself if they just told me that they had no additional spots ); Please reply if you got off the waitlist!!! I got waitlisted for pharm d btw
