I am an international RD engineering applicant and i just got in!!!
Best of luck to everyone!
Do we think some decisions are coming out at midnight?
DD accepted into Health Science major. ACT 30, weighted GPA 4.2. Alumni scholarship starting in sophomore year of 30k. Good luck to everyone today!
Congrats to everyone who was accepted!! Reading everyone’s stats, it was a big accomplishment, and everyone who’s accepted is clearly very deserving. For everyone else: I’m honestly surprised at the high stats of some who didn’t get in. Truthfully, sometimes there is no good explanation, and you can make yourself crazy asking “why?” This happened to my son at another college - he had a very strong application and we were really surprised that he didn’t get in. (and yet he got a great offer from NEU) It’s frustrating but there’s not always a good explanation for an individual decision, and sometimes you just have to say, “It’s their loss.” I’m sure all of you will have great opportunities and a very good college experience, wherever you go! Good luck to all!
Wow. This thread was on fire last night. Congrats to all that go in.
Those denied will do well also. You all seem to have strong stats.
Accepted!
stats-- 3.4 UW, not sure about weighted, somewhere around 4.2. Huge upward trend as well
SAT- 1450
Side note, didn’t submit the non-custodial profile for CSS so submitting it today. My CSS/FAFSA are in, the only thing im missing is the NCP. How much will this hurt me in terms of the amount of aid I’m getting? Also, my custodial parents EFC is 11k with 74k Income, and my NCP’s income is around 140k. Any idea how much aid I’ll be eligible for? The net price calculator says ~45k but thats not including my non custodial parents income. Thanks in advance!
Meant to post yesterday, but was accepted from Florida!
GPA 4.0/5.18
ACT 32, but with a 26 in math oops
I actually put that I preferred NU.IN on my common app without really knowing what it was but was accepted normally. It’s too bad since I am interested in study abroad. Accepted to UF as well and I will go to whichever school ends up being less expensive. I haven’t got my financial aid information since apparently I was missing some documents.
They will include the non-custodial parent’s income.
Ya I know I was just wondering if anyone had any idea how much aid I would receive as a result of that.
Got in. D’Amore McKim School of Business.
Sat: 1200
I honestly just have a crazy background story which is what i consider to be my edge. Along with good extra curricular activities. Doing the British O & A Level system.
I’m surprised by some of the higher stats that didn’t get in
@ddm223. You still have a shot at NEU. And with your really solid stats a school would be lucky to have you. Results were odd: lots of high stats applicants like yourself waitlisted or NU in. But you will wind up at a fantastic school.
Looks like 30-32 were accepted. Mostly those above 32 were rejected.
So is the NU IN program like below the actual school? I know we would study abroad first semester but whats the main difference?
I don’t think NU in is “below” anything. But the fact that there’s no merit aid makes it difficult for many to participate in what sounds like an amazing opportunity.
@ldifusco it basically means they think that you can handle the work when you eventually end up on campus after all of the freshman are settled in already, and they will be more than happy to take your $70K. LOL.
You get to go to the school of your dreams, you just need to open up your wallet.
For those of you surprised that the higher stats students did not get in - please remember that NEU is need aware. Meaning that they don’t have an unlimited endowment and will take need into account for admissions. So if a high stats students needs a lot of aid (high EFC) and another slightly lower status student has a lot less or no financial need, that may be a factor. Again, just speculation - but an important data point that no one is referencing in the rejection ‘stats’. How many rejected higher stats students needed a lot of FA?

My D got in to NU IN - She intends to major in pharmacy
New SAT: 750 R/ 710 M
GPA: 3.86 unweighted
ECs - only a couple but after school job for last 3 years
Essays - I think her essay was strong
Recs - 2 teacher recs from teachers who really like her and think she’s a great student so probably good. Counselor - who knows as he was new this year and doesn’t know her. Rec from her employer - I read it and it was excellent.
Reflection: On the one hand she’s thrilled to get in (as am I for her) and I think the international experience will be good for her. I think her SATs and GPA were on par with people who were accepted for Fall so I’m a little disappointed that she wasn’t. But I know her ECs were weak - she’s a bit of a loner – and I think NU values community involvement so I can see them not accepting her for Fall.
She was already accepted to Univ of New Hampshire, Mass College of Pharmacy, St Johns (Queens) and Hofstra - all with great merit awards. But her first choice is Northeastern. Still waiting for NYU, BU, and Brandeis. She loved NYU but was a little hesitant about being that far from home. But NYC is a lot closer than Ireland or Australia!
Congratulations to all who were accepted!
@suzyQ7 I think it is the opposite. If a high stat students needs a lot of FA they would be a good investment of funds. If a low stat student at say the 25th percentile of potentially admitted students needs a lot of FA, they may be denied while a student with similar stats but full pay would be accepted. Also, admission is holistic. Essays, EC’s etc. may be lacking or the adcoms get the impression that the student is using the school as a safety and has no intention of actually enrolling unless all else fails.
