I called a few days after I submitted it and the automated machine said that they would email you if there were any problems (by the 7th I believe?). So theres no reason to call, I’m sure it’s fine.

I’m also a Floridian! And no one believes me when I say I applied ED to a school in Illinois because I’m cold when it’s under 80 degrees!

Oh, well, I figure I’ll be locked in my dorm room studying under a pile of blankets so the outside weather won’t matter much. :D

Like everyone else, I have my hopes up! NU is my first choice. I’m a prospective Journalism student and, obviously, NU is the best school for that undergraduate major. However, I’m convinced I won’t get in…so, I’m EXTREMELY nervous about December 15th.

Would anyone mind chancing me? The original post said to do that on this thread. But no one has so far…so I don’t want to post all my stats if it’ll annoy everyone.

I’m so glad I found this thread though, it’s nice to hear from some people who are going through the same thing as me!

I have limited my schools so much, Northwestern is going to be a do or die. I want to go so badly!! AHH CAN WE SPEED UP TIME. I feel like im going to get rejected though :(

@heybails - D’s roommate is from Florida and she’s absolutely LOVING NU so far from what I can see!

I think last year lots of folks chanced each other on the ED thread, so don’t be shy. ;-D

My fingers are crossed for all of you!

Just saw this and think it’s a worthwhile reminder…

“6 – Always (we repeat: ALWAYS) apply to multiple safety schools. So you’ve applied to Harvard, Northwestern, Stanford, NYU and Boston College. You’re bound to get into one, right? Not necessarily. No matter how high of a GPA you have, always apply to a few safety schools (schools that you are likely get into) in case those Ivy Leagues or other top tier schools send rejection letters. And by a few, we don’t mean just one, because you aren’t guaranteed a spot at a safety school, either.”

Momcares: Ha! I laugh at your cut n paste! Obviously the writer (Maureen Dowd) ain’t a gonna get into NU! “you aren’t guaranteed a spot at a safety school, either”

Hey Maureen - What’s that definition of a Safety School again?

But all kidding aside, it is absolutley sound advice to have safeties - and yes Maureen, we know there are no guarantees. What’s that you say? The sun will rise in the East? Thanks. Thanks Maureen!

Good luck to all. The Rubicon is crossed. And in another year it won’t matter that we all waited with bated breath for the Ides of December.

Unless I’m mistaken, the quote was from a blog written by two students of Harvard. ;-)

It seems like totally obvious advice, but D actually knows 3 extremely bright kids who aren’t enrolled this year because they failed to apply to enough Safeties.

Our best state school, which NU-caliber students once considered a Safety, rejected lots of 4.0 kids with ACTs of 34+ last year, so last years’ Safety can be this years’ Reach.

Exciting news… when you are accepted in December, you’ll be part of one of the strongest incoming classes ever at NU!

[Early Decision Applications Up Again : Northwestern University Newscenter](Early Decision Applications Up Again: Northwestern University News)

Plus I suspect this may mean a higher % of the class of 2016 could be admitted ED this year, so it seems that you were all very wise to apply early!

I don’t know NU’s plans, but I think they accepted extra people ED last year based on the unusual strength of the applicant pool, so I’d think that might be the case again this year. To me this news implies that you made a great decision to apply early!

I applied ED as a Theatre major! I’m so so nervous, I have good grades and ECs and essays and all that but not the besssst test scores, so we’ll see how that goes. I’m sure everyone is as nervous for mid-December as I am. Good luck to all!

I’m very nervous as well. Applied ED to WCAS. I’ve been counting down the days until December 15th, but it still feels ages away. Here’s hoping for the best. Good luck everyone.

I haven’t gotten my “complete and under review” email yet, and I applied on october 30, so should i call the admissions office to ask?

Also, it’s so great that there are so many Floridians applying ED! If we all get in we won’t be alone in the transition from 80 degree winter weather to…lots and lots of cold.

Does more people applying ED mean that more will be accepted ED? Or does that make it more difficult for us because there’s more competition?

Hmmm the fact that there was a 15% increase in ED apps doesnt make me less anxious at all…
Anyways…idk if any of you guys know this, but are most ED people applying to schools other than WCAS? Especially journalism since Northwestern differs in other schools in that field.

I applied as a journalism major!

Yesterday I received a financial aid book and a letter detailing the financial aid process at Northwestern! I am wondering if that is a good sign or if it doesn’t mean anything? I’m hopeful, but I doubt it really means anything! Although I have never actually requested any kind of info from Northwestern… :P

@tstoim did you submit your CSS profile?

I got that same financial aid book and letter… And I didn’t apply early so I guess its just based on mailing lists

Sent from my PC36100 using CC App

No I haven’t submitted mine yet, and I haven’t submitted my fafsa either!

I got my “complete and under review” email today!!! less than a month left guys…

@Shannon - me too! My counselor took forever to mail some things, and I finally got my “complete and under review” email.

Waiting approximately a month is hard, aha. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have to wait until April for a decision, but I might find out…

In the meantime, I think I might visit NU again!
