A comment on SESP: It grows. Like really fast. We’re just about to finish up fall quarter here and I’ve noticed a lot of people planning to take an LOC class during the winter to try it out. Personally, I’m going to track myself to triple major Econ/Stat/LOC but pick two by the end.

Would it be too late to schedule an interview with an alum? Or do those typically take place before the deadline?

It’s too late for ED applicants to schedule an interview

Central FC, don’t worry about it. This is the email my daughter got today:

"Thanks for contacting Northwestern University!

Unfortunately, it is too late in the application process to schedule an alumni interview.

Rest assured that an interview is not required for your application and does not play an important role in the application process. We use interviews to gauge how interested an applicant is in attending NU. Since you are applying Early Decision, your application already reflects the high level of motivation we’d be looking for!

I will make a note of your request in her file so that the admissions committee will be aware of her effort to schedule an interview."

@ Calmama That’s the exact same email I got about a month ago…except it wasn’t too late…there just wasn’t anyone in my area to interview me.

My D is a McCormick 2009 grad. Did not interview.

last year ED results came out on 12/10… hope the same happens this year again

I also heard it was the Friday before the fifteenth which would put it on the ninth if the same rule applies this year. just speculation though haha

Hey guys… I am an early decision applicant also and just want to know how much weight they put on the SAT subject test scores. I was stupid enough to send my 690 US History before seeing it, and now it is too late to cancel the score report. I also got a 750 Biology M.
I haven’t taken US History since 10th grade and thought I would do much better on the test. I got a 5 on the AP US History test, though. The rest of my stats are good though (34 ACT, class rank of 3/680, killer essays, great recs, and solid extracurriculars with leadership).
Do you think that 690 is going to hurt me?

Wildcat339-- I would not worry about a 690 on US history. You are very strong candidate.

Ok thanks ahp1994. I have heard different things from everyone, but at this point I am not going to fuss about it. Still more than two weeks. This wait is killing me!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hopefully we’ll all have something to be thankful for, come December 9th/15th. (:

@StotheK Haha! yeah

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

This may be a dumb question…but the only way to check on status of our app is to be contacted by email right?..

@life2dmax
NU emailed me when my application was complete.
The office of admissions is really nice, if you have any questions about your app you should email them!

Anybody else literally praying its the 9th? Good luck to everybody :)

Someone should call admissions on Monday and see if they have set a date of release… They are really nice and usually will tell you what day they plan on sending the emails

I also applied ED back at the end of October. Starting to get really nervous! It’s nice to find a place where a bunch of us can wait anxiously together lol. I’ve visited NU a couple times now (most recently for the U of M/NU football game), and I fell in love with it. I’m from a really small town in MN so I’m scared that there isn’t enough offered at my school to get me in. Anyone care to assess my situation?

ACT: 33, GPA: 3.943, Rank: 3/70 (because my school’s ranking is not weighted, but that’s a whooole other argument I could have), NHS, Band, Speech, Golf, Volunteer at a Hospital, etc etc. I did PSEO full time for junior and senior year. PSEO is a program in MN where the students in the top of their class can enroll at local colleges and do all of their classes there. Should have 4 awesome recommendations, but I don’t think my essays were average.

Counting down until the 15th…

What I meant to say was I think my essays are average.

I think you have as good as shot an anyone! It sounds like you have taken the opportunity to extend your academics where your school was unable to accomodate you. There are so many factors as you know so it will come down to a little luck for anyone to get in! Good luck! :)
