**Official Northwestern 2016 ED Applicants' Discussion Thread**

I’m guessing it’s based on how big each school is to keep the classes proportional to past years’ sizes, so because Weinberg is the biggest, they probably accept the most applicants both ED and regular

Does anyone know the ranking of hardest to least hard college to get into?

I feel like Sam Lee (?) might have posted something about that last year. I’ll see what I can find.

@ MomCares: Thanks! I appreciate it!

I just searched and couldn’t find what I thought I remembered. You could pm Sam Lee and see if he remembers posting something about the admit rates or maybe it was the stats for various schools within NU. Or maybe someone else can find it?

Done! I’ll post it if he knows.

They used to have average SAT by schools but the differences weren’t really that great among them. Music school always had the lowest but it was still around 1350, when the university average was like 1430 three years ago. A while back, SESP was thought to be the easiest because of their lower SAT average; that changed three years ago when its average was the second highest.

NU is different from many others and requires students to have very good grades and test scores even if they are applying to be theater, music, or film majors. You don’t really get any break for applying to a specialty college.

Thanks, Sam!

thank you!

I don’t think there is really any difference, even if there is a 20 or 30 point discrepancy or whatnot- they just want to see you fit the school you pick. If you do ton’s of math and science EC’s and apply to SESP because you think it’s easier to get in, that’s not a good thing. So don’t stress about the school you applied to because you probably picked that school for the right reason.
Less than 12 days and counting! :)

my D was convinced she was going to go ED but changed her mind last minute (commitment phobe). She changed her decision plan on the Common Ap, but not the supplement - submitted her app 11/27 and immediately received the “thanks for applying ED email” she replied to the email, acknowledged her mistake, and within a day received a followup email that thanked her for her reply and that they would move her app to RD. 2 days after that, got the “all’s complete and under review for RD” email.

Hope this doesn’t hurt her chances. She’s accepted to Wisconsin Madison, Drake and went EA at ND and Mich.

Hi! I just got an account after many weeks of stalking this thread. I’ve applied ED to Weinberg with a 3.85 UW GPA, 31 ACT, and my high school has at least two students admitted to NU for the past few years (I’m the only one in my grade that applied ED). I’m ecstatic for the 9th!

@ready2graduate - we have basically the exact same stats! haha I’m the only person applying Ed from my school - and I believe I’m also the first… ah! good luck.

if decisions get sent out on Friday… we have 6 days left.

If they get sent Friday…longest six days of my life.

Not a big fan of just posting stats, as it doesn’t ruly say who I am, but 4.5 W, 4.0ish UW, 35 ACT, 2260 single-sitting SAT. Really nervous! Two kids from last year’s grad class go to NU from my school. Probably two of the top 5 students, but I’m around 15 in my class.

Wait, It’s been confirmed that the admissions notification will be released December 9th? That means I have 6 less days to mentally prepare myself!

^ I don’t think anybody confirmed it I just read that a lot of people believe it will be Friday the 9th because last year it was the 10th that they released them on.

i really hope it comes out the 9th because i just can’t stand waiting anymore. my friend said that northwestern has been coming out with their decisions for the past 2 years the friday before the actual date so hopefully they’ll continue to follow suit!

however i heard that there’s been an increase in applications again this year so they may need more time to go through all the applications which would mean telling us the admission decisions on a later date.

i’m hoping for the 9th though!!

Northwestern ED apps up from 2127 to 2450:
You can look at other schools as well:

[Nearly 4,250 Apply to New Harvard Early Admission Program - NYTimes.com](Nearly 4,250 Apply to New Harvard Early Admission Program - The New York Times)

Which raises the question: will the expectations for ED admission go up, or will more of the class of 2016 be admitted ED? The wait is killing me!!!

I wish they had an online Application Status program, because U of C does and that would be very helpful…
