@tronvader - I got waitlisted with a 2230 and 750+ Subjects and strong ECs & stuff. Didn’t show an ounce of interest. It’s got to be either yield protection or lack of interest or International FA or most probably - a combination of the three.

Anyway, I guess I’ll accept the waitlist offer there, cause I’m not sure that I’ll get into other places!!
Also I was reading CWRU’s CDS last night and they listed “Showing Interest” - “Very Important factor” , so there goes it. Even NU lists “Showing Interest” - “Considered” and so does UPenn(supposedly because it was beginning to be used as a back-up Ivy school??).

@luv2dance - I agree with you, most of these schools who allegedly practice yield protection - DO NOT have a supplemental essay on the commonapp!! If they want to sort out people based on interest - they’ve got to have that!! I mean, I’m an International student - so I can’t go on a campus visit and interviews are rarely offered by these schools. The websites now-a-days have everything, and you don’t want to be pi**ing the admissions office off by asking silly questions. Not everyone has updates, so even that method of “showing interest” is not valid! How do they expect you to show interest??

I just hope that between now and March 29th, I get ONE acceptance!!

@rishav lol I probably got lucky then! Saw your stats, my subject tests are more or less the same. I like Case, but I definitely didn’t show any interest through interview etc… So I probably had a bit of luck or whatever.
Good luck to you, though, rishav! I definitely agree that showing interest is hard when you’re intl. Like, all we can do is stalk the websites.

Same here… Just want one or two acceptances from reaches.

A friend of mine who does not have great stats was accepted to Case with a 25K scholarship today. He has good test scores but his grades were not stellar by CC terms. He has like a 3.75-3.8 UW I think.

@EnoughAlready Thanks for sharing your experience! It makes me feel a little better because I was rejected (after being deferred from ED). It was the second school I heard from after being accepted to a safety school, and it kind of put a damper on my day. HOWEVER, I’m so glad that things worked out for your daughter. I agree with many people saying that WashU just wants to increase application yield (not only because I’m a tad sour, haha) and Northwestern is interested in the applicant as a whole, since they ask for supplements.

I’d say interest isn’t crucial, but it’s a very good thing to show in ones application, and can really boost chances. I just got accepted ED earlier (good luck to all of you by the way i had never been as nervous as I was on acceptance day!) on a 2090 SAT with a 54k scholarship (although that’s mostly because I was a questbridge finalist), and my grades and ECs were only like, b+a-, but I showed a TON of interest in NU and Chicago culture and what I wanted to do, which is why I think they accepted me.

Does anyone have any sort of login info? For all of my other apps they made me setup a username and password so I could login to see my admission status. Does anyone know how Northwestern works?

As far as I know the earliest anyone thinks they might be out is the 22nd, but it could easily not happen before the 29th. UChicago and some state flagships seem like the main admissions events for next week among the kids I know.

I guess we’ll know when NU’s date when you all finally get your emails. Can’t wait!

Anxious to hear, as I know we all are I can take a breather this week and gear up for the last two weeks of March and the three big decisions to come in!

UChicago’s on 15th. Few other schools are on 15th too. As far as I know, only Northwestern(maybe?) and Smith are slated to release their dates.

But we’ll only know, as MomCares says, when we get a final email!! :D

I think an email is best… That way, if I open the mail and don’t see a fat packet, I’m not as disappointed as an email… My worries, consuming my mind when I should be writing a paper for AP lit… Woe is me I guess

@NorthwesternDad, my one page document do mean an attachment on the email? So if we don’t see an attachment we should automatically assume we were denied or waitlisted?

P.S. Hi everyone, sorry to just jump in here. I’m new to this thread but I have been following it for awhile.

What I remember from 2 years ago was that D got a generic one page email saying her decision was available online, which linked her to a custom portal with her one page decision letter. IIRC, nothing about the email gave any indication of what the decision was.

@caxy93, as MomCares pointed out…the email will provide a link that has a one page decision letter. This process hasn’t changed until now. Good Luck!

Sup guys. I was admitted ED to McCormick class of 2017 and now that admissions decisions for RD are rolling around i remembered that a place called CC existed again! It’s been pretty interesting reading the post and seeing what the prospective RD pool looks like.

@NorthwesternDad, any good dorm recommendations you have?
I want to live in Elder; any others that you’d recommend?

Hey @adezar
I’m a current freshman at NU and as far as dorms, the “best” as far as quality (size of rooms, how new they are, quality of the lounges etc) would be Allison and Elder for bigger dorms, and a lot of the smaller res colleges have really really nice facilities as well. If you are looking for social (as far as going out, partying etc), then North campus is definitely where you wanna be. Bobb and Elder are probably the two best social/party dorms on campus (i live in bobb). But an important thing is that they changed the housing app last year so that you no longer are able to make a list of your top dorm choices. Now they simply assign you dorms based on a set of criteria you select during the housing process this summer. The exception is for the residential colleges which you apply to individually
