Official Northwestern class of 2017 RD thread

Cornell just sent the email with the 28th as D-day also.

Hey guys I applied to the school of communications as an rtvf major! I really hope I hear good news tmrw. It’s pretty much tied for my number 1. Any fellow school of communication students?

Oh and also, I saw you guys talking about NU’s SAT avg and I was wondering if someone could clue me in. I used to know it, but that was awhile back and I can’t get on college board on my phone

Avalde, my daughter applied to the communications school. We’re not terribly optimistic, though.

IIRC last year’s ACT 50% range was 31-34 if that helps.

@Avalde4, I also applied to the school of communications as a communications major! :-)

Can someone explain to me what Parchment is? Is it like Naviance? Jw, bc it sounds cool and i’m kinda tempted to run my stats thru it :)

So wait, is it coming out today or tomorrow??

Also, I don’t trust parchment completely…it said I had a 72% chance of getting into uchicago and I got waitlisted. But maybe that’s what that extra 18% was for lol. Northwestern, though…I think my chances are logically higher, even though parchment says otherwise. Good luck guys!

@lily96, how do you account for the 10% then!!!

@Tougis I’m not too hopeful either I have zero to no experience in film except for one ec. Hopefully all of the creative writing experience will help.

@endlessroad! That’s exciting! In this together!!

Thanks @momcares. It helps. I just compared it to one of those charts and even though it’s not super accurate, if their range is 31-34, then it is similar to a 2040-2260. Which makes me feel a little bit better.

@caxy- go for it! i have no idea what naviance is but basically it gives you chances based on gpa, sats, and legacy (parchment.com)

I just called admissions, and the recording said that no new information is available regarding decisions, besides the fact that they will be released by the end of March. I’m just a little skeptical now regarding AnnieZ’s claim that an admissions officer told her the decisions would be released this week. Or, are we basing this off past years’ decision dates?

@rm- I know haha I called admissions too. Why won’t they just tell us…?! But anniez could have emailed an admissions person or know one personally, I mean why would she lie?

any one knows what the act average is for biomed engg?

I think the fact that they say they no longer can give any new info about admission decisions shows that decisions are going to be released either today about 2 hours later or 26 hours from now on… I really hope that they won’t wait the end of spring break to release decisions.

I spoke to admissions today. I told them that I am Kellogg alum hoping that I can get little more accurate info. The decisions will be available next week is what I was told. No specific date was given. I again asked - “decisions are not coming out this week, right?” and the person confirmed that the decisions are NOT coming out this week. My son has applied to NU among others.

So, unless they want to say one thing and do other thing - I don’t see the results coming out tomorrow.

Since I saw so many threads, anticipating decisions tomorrow, I was compelled to create an account and inform everyone.

Good luck to you all!

@NorthwesternDad wow, thank you for pointing out my mistake. looks like my stress over getting into Northwestern is degrading my mental math skills!

does anyone know when events (overnight) for admitted students is planned? which weekend?

Thank you so much NUKelloggDad! You may have single-handedly reduced the stress levels of multitudes of hopefuls (and their parents). It is hard waiting, but it is at least better if you know what date you are - or are not - waiting for. The expectation of decisions being released tomorrow, as far as I can tell, was all speculation, and the NU admissions office never formally tipped their hat that it would be earlier.
