Official Northwestern class of 2017 RD thread

Got an email at 2:55 PM PST.

Dear S****:

Admission decisions from Northwestern University’s Office of Undergraduate Admission are now available. This link(hyperlink word) will take you to a web page where a copy of your decision letter may be viewed.

Sincerely,
Office of Undergraduate Admission
Northwestern University

When I click on the word “link”, i get this message: Could NOT connect to memcached server.

You guys are brutal. It is likely that your email will come within the next hour. Sit down and watch TV or listen to music, the email will come.

There has not been any decision postings here in a while, just don’t understand what is going on.

I’m using gmail also…and still nothing. there must be a way to figure this out

How did people ever get their admissions decisions when email didn’t exist. Imagine. You might have to wait hours or even DAYS longer than someone else to hear your decision.

I got the email, but when I click the link I get…

Could NOT connect to memcached server.

Seems like people with gmail havent got it,and others have!

And considering the northwestern email ids also operate on the gmail base,shoulsnt it be the other way round?

Is there anyone on here that is using gmail that has gotten a decision? And anyone that is using another email service that hasn’t?

That means contrary to what NU believes their server is crashing. Same problem happened last year in a major way.

Hmm… Excellent observation. Seeing as I may want to pursue computer science, this may not be the school for me.

@Briangreen

I have yahoo email and I got it, but I get this:
Could NOT connect to memcached server.

@CaLLM3KoB3

I got the same message for mine. i wasnt sure if their server is down or it was specifically not working for me

Nothing yet from Yahoo. If NU sent it, it’s not really their fault. I assume there is some sort of lag time going on from sending out that giant amount of information, though I’m not really sure how all of that fancy interweb stuff works. I might go watch a movie (who needs homework anyway?)

Gmail with no email too… I really hope it’s just a coincidence that no one with gmail has received anything…

Kept clicking on the link in my AOL account. Didn’t get in.

though the inability to connect to the server once clicking on the link does seem to be an NU problem…

At this point, I’m just going to get off of CC and keep myself busy. No use refreshing for something I have no control over.

Seeing as Google is a company built around the internet, and they have the brightest minds in computer science, I don’t think any problem is on their end. Does Northwestern really intend to put some blame on Google? Northwestern servers vs. Google servers, I wonder which are crashing?

I think just about every high schooler has gmail LOL

once again, chill guys. The servers crashed last year, with how much everyone is refreshing their browsers it’s likely the same happened this year. Basing your decision on the fact that servers crash when thousands of people punch F5 is ludicrous.
