S got his paper acceptance packet in the mail yesterday on the left coast.

Btw, you can say “yes” on the plan to enroll screen and it will open up a link to CAESAR, NU’s online system for students. You can do this WITHOUT checking the other box that will open up agreeing to all the terms of accepting the offer, so I don’t think this is a formal acceptance yet (since until you see financial aid info you really haven’t see the full offer).

If it works the same this year as it did D’s year, once have your account in CAESAR you will be able to see your financial aid offer as soon as it’s ready, rather than having to wait for the snail mail to arrive. D saw her offer a couple years ago several days before the mail arrived.

The other thing I’d like to know about is whether there are any admitted student days. I can’t find anything on the NU website other than the orientation week right before school starts.

This is offered sometime in April - three different 2-dates program; called Preview NU when the admitted students come to campus, sleep in dorms and get to see more of life on campus.

@silkwolf, I checked NU’s website again and it still says all e-mails will be SENT BY 28th March. Maybe they still haven’t sent few people the mails for some odd reason!! Just call them up on Monday though!! :)

The admitted students preview (mentioned in S’s admission letter) is called Wildcat Days. Here’s where you can find info about the three offered dates and register…

Accepted to Medill! 30 act (M:29/R:28/S:33/E:30/W:8), URM, 3.86 GPA, class president (I think my essays are what really helped me…I focused a lot on my passion for journalism and how it helped shape me)

@tougis – the move-in week is called Wildcat Welcome Week, versus the preview days which are Wildcat Days. Btw… I think Wildcat Days are only open to those admitted RD.

We’ve been through it a couple years ago with D, which is the only reason I know this. :)

CONGRATULATIONS to all the lucky future Wildcats!!

I would strongly encourage you to take this trip. There are so many things you may want to look at such as residential colleges and regular dorms, north and south campus, the types of restaurants, the general layout of the place, the information sessions, and the like.
At least, this was very useful to us, when S had to choose between RC and dorm.

Is it a good idea for kids to go to Wildcat Days by themselves? My D and two (or three) other girls are considering making a one day trip without parents.

I really thought the trip for Wildcat Days was just as helpful to us (the parents) as it was to our daughter. There were sessions for both prospective students and parents, and my daughter met her freshman roommate there - they decided to live together at the end of the visit, and applied for a residential college (Willard), where they eventually lived.

NorthwesternDad and EnoughAlready: Thank you for your insights. Although we have been to NU numerous times as visitors there still are so many things to learn as parents of prospective (admitted:) )students.

^Same. I requested to join on Friday, still nothing back. The member numbers haven’t budged from 531 since then, but I’m guessing whoever runs it is just busy.
