Has anyone see someone who got accepted without a flawless transcript? I know it’s possible!!

My friend with a 3.6 was accepted into Weinberg last year so here’s hoping .-.

I’m so excited and nervous to find out!! I’ve been counting the days; I am going to be a nervous wreck next week. Northwestern is my dream school.

Where else are you guys applying/have applied to already?

I applied to Tulane, Colorado College and Fordham EA, and if I’m rejected or deferred by Northwestern I’m applying RD to Duke, Vandy, WUSTL, Emory, USC, Rice, Claremont McKenna and Georgetown

@Gungunbaby - Don’t worry about it, my brother got into Medill RD and his cumulative GPA was a 4.4 out of 6 (which is better than it sounds as he went to the same competitive prep school that I’m at now, but still not great.) He didn’t take the SAT and his ACT was a 32 I think. So yes, it is possible to get in without a flawless transcript, mine is far from flawless…

omg this thread just made everything much more real! I can’t believe we only have a little bit over a week left! And I agree, I don’t think a perfect gpa is absolutely necessary!
Good luck to everyone!!

I am soooooo nervous!

Do colleges notify our school/counselor at the same time as us?

Jesus less than two weeks now. Didn’t seem so close (or so real) until I turned the page on that calendar.

Good luck to everyone!

its all becoming so real…basically a week left
also, could anyone post theirs or a friend’s stats that were either accepted or rejected from questbridge? thanks!

Thanks guys!!!

One week to goooooooooooooo

(OR LESS THAN A WEEK!!!)

:DDDDD

im so nervous my heart kind of stops every single time i think about me getting the email…

Would it be an email that directly tells you the result or gives you a link to some NU website??

From what I’ve heard you get an email at 5 pm central time and it will have a link that will redirect you to a screen with the decision.
I haven’t really applied anywhere else… so if I don’t get in I’m going to have to scramble together a bunch of applications at the last minute.

@texasteen it was through QuestBridge

Is it just me, or do you guys also feel like we all(everyone on this thread) are already one big NU family? I mean we all connect through our anxiety and impatience for decisions! And if we took the trouble to be on here, it’s safe to imply that NU is the dream school for everyone on here. I’m so excited guys; decisions are right around the corner.

It didn’t really hit me that the results were coming out until yesterday. Getting nervous now haha. And btw I was also intimidated by the crazy “chance me’s” people were posting because I’m on the 25th percentile for my SAT’s… I thought that my chances of getting in was low, but I have a feeling of confidence for some reason haha. People always say to have low expectations in case you get rejected, but oh well.
Good luck to everyone! Hope to see you all next year!

nymomof3boys-NU does defer students from the ED round, but it is a VERY small group. They aren’t just deferring lots of kids. They only started issuing deferrals maybe 4 years ago at most and when they defer, it has always been pretty transparent; they want to see more senior year grades.

I would realistically count on decisions coming out next Friday, since that is when the fall quarter ends and they will come out after the admissions office is closed. I guess you can understand why! The decisions do NOT all arrive at once. They will trickle out over the course of the evening and the acceptances are not released first. No rhyme or reason to the server.

@MrMistur - I feel that. My SATs are pretty strong, but that’s only because I needed high scores to compensate for my low GPA.

and @Missy641 - Some people will get their emails at 5 PM, but the majority of the decisions will come out a bit later. Some of them will come out as late as 7-8, or at least that’s what has happened in previous years judging by past results threads.

@calculator16 - We’ll be even more of a family once we all get in ;)

Yeah If I don’t get into NU i’ll probably apply Vanderbilt ED2 and UPenn RD, I already got into Tulane and would be so happy to attend, but I love Northwestern!!

Thank you mom of 3 sons (we seem to have that in common!) I have a good friend, who is an alumni of NU, that told me that NU does not defer their ED. But he graduated a long time ago! And glad to hear the rules may have changed.

The interesting decision we had to make is my son, who is a “math and science guy” still wanted an overall great university rather than apply to “tech” school, but NU seems to want well rounded students (not a bad thing) He did awesome on his math and science sections of ACT (35) but not great in English (28) or writing (8) which pulled him down to 32. Afraid this may hurt his chances, and his heart is set on NU. Oh well, we will see in a couple of weeks!

Good luck to all the prospective students out there. Wishing you the best.
