****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2019 Discussion Thread****

@RNS1995‌ thank you so much!!! You just got me even more anxious to hear a decision now!!

@bamboo17‌ I gotcha. well best of luck and I really hope it’s good news soon!

@gkfc13‌ absolutely! please feel free to ask any other questions you have and I hope it’s good news soon for you too

@RNS1995‌
Do you know if Materials Engineering would be a really competitive program to get in? How’s its difficulty (to get accepted) compared to the rest of NU?

Thanks @RNS1995‌ !

@NorthernKev‌ honestly engineers take mostly all the same classes at first. I doubt there’s any significant difference in admission rate for different types of engineering. best of luck!

Did anyone here interview?

@imrllynervous omg i am literally just about to ask this question

I did with the local alum

@imrllynervous‌ I tried to interview but the school sent me the wrong interviewer information. When I contacted the school to try and get the right interviewer they never responded back.

No interviews in illinois, so I didn’t

Closest one to me is in San Francisco and I simply cannot make it, so I didn’t interview either.

How important is the interview though? not so much right?

@kkkbj0101‌ @collegeappstory‌ I applied about 4-5 days before the deadline and I never sought to interview (despite living in an area with a significant alumni population lol). I was wondering if that would really make a difference. I know they say it won’t but does that look bad?

@imrllynervous it does not look bad at all. There are so many people don’t have a chance to be interviewed. Especially the interview is more informative than evaluative.

@kkkbj0101‌
I heard they usually don’t use interviews as a general criteria, but only when comparing two applications individually, meaning they won’t care about your interview unless they’re specifically comparing you against an individual.

@northernKev I think you are right.

Do you guys think going to their summer program helps a little bit too? Maybe?

Well everything helps. Not sure about NU but back home in California UCs go nuts for their COSMOS programs, which is a summer research program.

@northernKev oh ya i guess that is the “show your interest” part.

Ugh can’t concentrate on finals…
Accept = Screw finals
Rejected = Screwed for finals
Deferral = Screwed by finals
