****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2020 Discussion Thread****

Ask questions, get advice, talk to other applying students, and get application info and updates with the occasional chime in from a current student. Feel free to use this to release stress too!! I know how hard it can be. I know it can be especially hard for ED students. So here ya go future 'Cats! Sound off!

What makes this official?

I wonder this about all threads deemed “official”

I have an ACT score of 30 but have good GPA and really good extra curriculars. No major awards tho. I’m worried that I won’t get in because of my ACT… Does anyone know anyone who got accepted with a low ACT score for WCAS?

I got into Medill with an SAT score of 1970!

I feel slightly better now as a lurker.

I was wondering why there hasn’t been an “official” thread yet! Is there a separate one for ED?

How many people apply to SESP and how many get accepted for ED??

@lucky010 no clue but I know that they only had 50 incoming freshmen

I have a 2210 superscore on the SAT (CR 700, M 720, W 790) and a 740 in Lit SAT II’s. I have a 32 on the ACT’s. I’m not applying for an engineering or math major, but took the Math 2 subject test and got a 720. I plan on applying ED and every other part of my application is at match level besides my subpar test scores, from GPA to recs to essays, to EC’s. Should I send my Math II in or not?

Hi! I’m thinking about ED Medill, but I’m not sure if students must have a strong background in journalism to apply. Would you mind listing you ECs:) ? Also, do you have an idea what’s the acceptance rate is?

Hey fellow Wildcat hopefuls! I’m applying ED to McCormick, and I was wondering if I can get some feedback on my SAT II scores. I got a 760 Math II and 750 Chem, but both of those scores aren’t even in the 90th percentile. Should I send them still? My math and science grades are very strong in high school; I’ve finished all 4 of my science classes thus far with greater than a 95%, and all math classes with greater than 90%. Any feedback would help, thanks!

Hi guys - so I just submitted my regular decision application (Early, I know. But I wanted to get it done with) around 2 weeks ago but I haven’t received any confirmations or links to create accounts. I have received such emails for all the other colleges I have applied to. Is this normal? ED applicants, have you gotten an email and how long did it take? Thanks.

I sent my ACT score about 2 weeks ago, and have gotten no confirmation. My guess is that they don’t start counting up who has applied until the actual deadlines (11/1 for ED and 1/1 for RD). At which point, they will probably send that info.

nu freshman here, just to say good luck guys! try not to let cc stress you out too much

When do most people find out if they got in if they apply regular decision?

@MidwestIsBest I believe sometime in mid-March.

@CaliCash Did you have stellar extra curricular activities or wrote a compelling essay?
And is Northwestern School of Education liberal arts based?

Yeah I know someone sort of asked this earlier, but are we supposed to get some kind of email conformation once we send in our apps? I submitted mine last week for ED and I got the email conformation from common app, but none from the actual Northwestern admissions email. Is that normal? Also, will there be some kind of portal-type website where we can track our applications, or does that happen only through email?

I was wondering the same question too. I applied, but never got the confirmation email from NU

Just submitted my app today!

I know ED decisions come out Dec. 15, but can someone tell me how they are sent out and if you could hear back before that date?
