my stats were right in the average for northwestern/ sort of on the low side though – and I submitted under the early decision plan! however in the additional info section of my common app (wrote an abstract for science research i did) i made two grammar errors in the same sentence that made that entire sentence nonsensical. should i contact NU about this? did it completely ruin my chances of getting in? (The errors were pretty awful, i added in an extra verb in one part and then wrote impertinent when I meant to write important in another). SOS let me know!
I would email your admission officer so at least they know you are aware and acknowledging your errors. That’s preferable to saying nothing.
I took the subject tests earlier this month and gotta 690 on Bio M and 700 on Math 2… Was it a good idea to send those?
Weinberg and Bienen dual degree… just went to the campus for audition a week ago… Hope i can get in
good luck to you all! keep in mind, it’s possible your application was already read.
At this point I’m guessing that every or almost every application has had at least one set of eyeballs on it.
Lord. They had 3k early decision applicants. ~X(
@lmaoimdeadaf where’d you see that?
@jason922 http://dailynorthwestern.com/2015/11/13/campus/northwestern-early-decision-applications-increase-by-12-percent-this-year/
Seems there’s 12% more competition
But still, “With the increase in the number of applications, Mills said he is still expecting similar acceptance rates for Early Decision candidates as last year. He said he thinks the school will take about 45 to 50 percent of its freshman class from the Early Decision pool.”
Look on the bright side… (If you applied ED)
That’s a pretty massive uptick…
Their RD acceptance rate must be so bloody low :’)
Guys, the decision is only about 2 weeks away.
Let’s play with numbers;
Suppose 35% of ED applicants get accepted and this compromises of 50% of the class and assume there is perfect yield - that would mean 1050 applicants out of 3000 get in, which would leave another 1050 for the RD round to fill up. Again, assuming there’s perfect yield, this would bring RD acceptance to (1050/32000) * 100 = 3.28125%, which is ridiculously low - lower than HARVARD’S and STANFORD’S RD.
I’m so glad that I applied ED
.
anyone know when ED results come out? I know it’s december 15th at the latest, but usually they come out earlier. And they notify you by email right?
@acx820 I sure hope they come out earlier, I’m nervous as fuck.
Hey guys, so I applied ED to Northwestern. I posted this in the SAT forum, but I’ll just re-post this here in case any of you have an answer.
So just recently I found out that some schools don’t actually take rush reports(I used rush score report when I sent scores in October). However, I called college board and what they said is that even though I ordered the rushed report, they would only send to the colleges in the specific college’s preferred format whether that be paper or electronic. Umich says they don’t take rush report, but when I checked their friend account website thing, it says that they received all my scores and when I called their office they confirmed this. I also applied ED to Northwestern and 11 days ago I received an email from them saying "We are pleased to inform you your early decision application to Northwestern University for fall 2016 is now complete and under review. You will receive an admission decision by mid-December. 23 days ago I received an email from Northwestern saying “Thank you for your interest in Northwestern University. We will notify you at the above e-mail address once your file is complete; we look forward to reviewing your application.” I’m guessing the email back from them was the email that I received 11 days ago. So I would presume that they received all SAT scores. I haven’t called Northwestern admission office, but can anyone confirm that what college board said is correct. I guess I’m just paranoid at this point this decisions are less than 3 weeks away.
@acx820 didn’t they come out around 6:30pm est last year on December 15th?
Also, did everyone else who applied ED here apply for a css profile for Northwestern? I know Northwestern is need blind and that I’ll be getting no financial aid anyways, so is the css mandatory?
It isn’t mandatory but I did it cause I’m poor af and there’s no way I can pay for that tuition if I get in. If you do plan on doing the css, it’s due Dec 1st for NU ED applicants. They’ll tell you the aid amount a week after you get in. @barcodeIlIl
@McKilla99 But don’t forget that RD yield isn’t 100%, so they accept more then that RD.
