** Official Northwestern Class of 2021 Discussion Thread **

We’ll just have to see if it comes out today. At the very worst it’ll be on Monday or Tuesday which isn’t that bad either

For the sake of avoiding all this stress-induced drama… here’s a summary of most of the important info/ FAQs based on the last few days of posts.

NU will NOT announce in advance when they will release decisions. Any claims of confirmed times are just educated guesses. (If you want to fact check this, look through past years’ CC threads – they have never announced the release time ahead of time.)

When decisions are ready, you will receive an email detailing information for you to create a portal account. The decision will be on the portal. You do NOT need to make your portal account ahead of time – just wait for the email.

A few days ago someone posted the link to the portal and stated that you can make your account ahead of time if you use the “Forgot my password” feature. However, you do not NEED to do this, plus it is NOT RECOMMENDED that you do this. NUStaff posted a few days ago (post #1226) that if you make your portal using this method, you will not receive an email at the time the decisions are released. You will still be able to view your decision on your portal, you just won’t get an email notifying you to do so. If you still want to make your portal ahead of time, this is the link: https://ugadmission.northwestern.edu/account/login

NUStaff said on Tuesday that decisions will probably be released “later this week or early next week,” so today or next week are possibilities (see post #1226). Based on past years’ times, they usually release decisions around 4:45pm CST (5:45pm EST). But once again – NU WILL NOT CONFIRM A RELEASE TIME IN ADVANCE.

Hang in there people. This is a stressful time for us all, but staring at the clock every minute only makes the waiting game more painful.

Good luck to everyone with NU and other schools as well

I wish college confidential would allow us to pun comments to the top of each comment page because 1610 that comment was basically all we need to know.

@jjmama you should definitely check out the University of Michigan early action deferred page then. That one is out of control. (Check out posts from two weeks ago). It’s really entertaining.

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Even though you are stressed, you are expected to abide by the Terms of Service (link at the bottom of each page). I’ve had to delete several posts. Please remain civil if you want to keep posting on this website.

@koomsbooms17 lmao. Umich thread is wild. I was told to get off the thread many times. They’re so hostile.

I have been on that thread and this one and can say honestly that thread is really quite interesting to say the least. I thought all the threads were like that!

Well a little over 2 hours to go; lets see how this round goes… :frowning:

Isn’t the RD acceptance rate much lower than the actual acceptance rate? I heard that NU accepts most of its applicants through ED. I hope I am mistaken. :frowning:

@serwar473 I believe NU accepts half (or a little more than half) of its incoming class from ED; and the rest from RD. So to answer your question, yes–I think the RD admit rate is slightly lower than that of the overall rate (but not that significant of a difference). Have faith and good luck!

ugh… i’m so nervous

The wait and the uncertainty are what makes this excruciating

@serwar473 @seaotter17 the rd acceptance rate is (unfortunately) a lot lower than the ed rate. i almost applied ed for that reason, but ended up applying rd … so my chances are almost nil. this year, the ed acceptance rate was 26%, but the overall acceptance rate is expected to be bellow 10% … and about half the incoming class is accepted ed. So the rd rate will be well below 10%. i’m trying to just accept that i’m not getting in, but i can’t until i get the email. this wait is excruciating. but people do get in rd, so good luck to you! here’s a link to the ed admit stats: https://dailynorthwestern.com/2017/01/05/campus/northwestern-acceptance-rate-projected-to-fall-below-10-percent/

Are we definitely hearing tonight?

Does anyone have the link for the admitted students page?

You guys are cracking me up! Honestly I think in general everyone has been really nice…you have to remember that some have just popped on cc and don’t know to ready through the millions of posts to find the answer to their questions so they just blurt out the question like #1620 and then someone jumps on them who is at the end of their rope…it’s ok! The reason you think U of M was hostile was you kept asking questions on a deferred thread and referencing that you were accepted already kinda rubbing it in everyone’s nose so can’t blame them there…you kept saying you weren’t but you were on that thread so enough said there…
I think generally everyone here is really nice and supportive, we are not a very patient generation and we all just wanna know.

My guess (only guess) the decision would come out next Monday (March 20) if not today. It came out in 2015 on a Monday (March 23, 2015).

Hey I have a craving for pizza did you see all Cat’s get 50% off PapaJohns…just another reason to love Purple!

I can’t tell any of y’all if we’ll be hearing from NU today. I ED’d myself to Medill, only to get deferred, and I’ll be the first to tell you it’s been a long 4 months. However, sitting on a computer/phone screen refreshing a portal is no fun! Therefore, watch my mockumentary as a great source of entertainment: https://youtu.be/XQEpfmGPz5o. That’ll buy you 13 minutes of sheer joy!

Can’t chill. I check my email every 5 minutes
