Rejected after getting deferred ED. UChicago deferred me & rejected me just now too, haha. Sheesh, well it’s been a long & stressful ride.

@lindsayHarvard Not from my experience at our alma maters. Both my kids, who have great stats, got deferred from Uchicago as triple legacies. And I interview for the school. I think it might mean more at Ivies, but I don’t believe it does much at Northwestern or Uchicago unless you give a lot of money.
My girlfriend, who works at UC, says all it does is guarantee a second look, but doesn’t at all influence decisions.
It’s okay. I have one at Duke and my son got into WashU. He’s not in pain:)

Congrats to all who got in. I was rejected. To put things in perspective for everyone … I’m estimating the RD acceptance rate was around 5% or less. That is a crapshoot … truly. Northwestern had 3737 ED applications and accepted 972 … 26% ED acceptance rate. Northwestern had more than 33,000 RD applicants. The total class size is about 1925, so more than half was filled ED. Assuming Northwestern’s historical yield of around 53% on RD, it means around 1800 were admitted RD … that’s less than a 5% RD acceptance rate.
Message to next year’s applicants: If you really want to go to Northwestern, apply ED.
