Official Northwestern Class of 2024 Discussion

@College123321123 when you calculate 5% do you mean for the RD round only or including the ED round?

@throwaway0324 well so many times college changes their position from year over year. I will share our experience with you from 2 years back. UMich had accepted 10 students from my S high school, prior 5 years combined 0, go figure that out.
It seems like you are going for CS and you already have CMU and UIUC, far better options, who knows what happens on Ivy day. Don’t loose hope and let irrelevant thoughts drive your passion.

irrespective of ED or RD, 5% is unrealistic based on historical data.

5% is probably accurate for the RD round.

DD accepted, 1550/35, 4.0/4.7, 780 Math II, 800 Chem, 7 APs so far, all 5s, strong, diverse ECs, ok recs. Not top choice so not sure if will attend.

If you look purely at a 2000-people freshman class divided by 40000 total applicants, you get 5%. But in reality, Northwestern’s yield cannot be 100% (ED is close), so they must accept more than 2000 applicants. I would not be surprised if their RD acceptance rate is somewhere around 5%, considering NU fills about half their class in early decision.

RD Denied, 1500 SAT 790 Math/ 710 English, 3.92/ 4.28 GPA, 790 Math 2, 800 World History, 750 US History, 9 APs didn’t send scores, decent to good EC’s, but okay essays. I hope I help someone next year! Good luck!

I agree that 5% is very likely for the RD round because ED was likely much higher…probably in the 15-25% range, I’m guessing.

To those of you that got in RD, congrats! That is quite an accomplishment!!

Accepted!

For some reason, my NetID and activation code will not work. Is anybody else having a problem?

Historically, 1/2 of class comes through ED, hence higher acceptance rate. Last year it was ~1000 from ~4400, ~22% ED acceptance rate. As RD is nonbinding, it is fair to assume that more than 1000 offered admission from RD pool of ~41K for remaining 1000 seats.

Hyped.

@PPofEngrDr im actually going for engineering, UIUC was the only school i applied to for CS, because i wasn’t sure what i wanted to do yet

@mchwildcat yes, my girl is having same problem. Tell us if you figure it out?

@PPofEngrDr , at this point, I’m really glad a kid like that won’t be at Northwestern!

@throwaway0324 first of all, admissions is holistic and not solely focused on stats. Second, I am a black woman, and got in w a 4.4 GPA, 35 ACT, and 780 Subject Tests, not really good to generalize.

@biearbe , does your full ride include merit, or is it purely a financial aid award?

Accepted!!
