Reflection
[] Strengths: I’m a God. Had more awards than the Model UN eboard members (which was the club I talked about the most).
[] Weaknesses: Working too hard, Being too Sexy… etc. Just kidding. No leadership positions (not because of my lack of dedication, club sponsors asked my teachers for recs… let’s just say: My math teacher woke me up as I fell asleep on the sexual reproduction systems page of my AP Bio book in his class, US History teacher woke me up in class… you can see why my teachers hate me.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I’m a God.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: None have replied yet.
General Comments:

Holy crap, that was the most pathetic response yet.

I know, i’m trying to edit it, it was definitely ******y!

I was just tryin to be funny.

Objective:[ul]

[] Summer Activities: spent the summer in Switzerland working as an au pair, then received my A-1 certificate in German (took classes at night)
[] Essays: Solid. My Why NU? essay got my point across without sounding cliche and banal. My Common App essay was really well-written too, highlighting my thirst for diversity and whatnot.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Don’t know for sure, but I think they were fairly strong. One from my yearbook moderator, the other from my latin teacher who has taught me for the past three years.
[] Counselor Rec: My counselor doesn’t even know how to pronounce my name correctly, so I doubt this was the best.
[] Additional Rec: No
[] Interview: No
[/ul][ul]Other
[] State (if domestic applicant): Illinois
[] School Type: Private
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Femme
[li]Income Bracket: less than $100,000
[/li]

Reflection
[] Strengths: My extra-curriculars, obvious interest and pursuit in journalism, volunteer work, experiences (I wrote about my time in the Middle East).
[] Weaknesses: Math. It brought down my GPA and my ACT. But going into journalism, this isn’t really that big of an issue.
[] Why you think you were accepted: I’ve immersed myself in as many journalistic activities as possible (I’m sure two EIC positions and another editor position didn’t hurt ha) and my essays were amazing (not to be conceited).
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted to University of Iowa, University of Minnesota. Still waiting to hear from: Boston University, University of Washington, Fordham. [/ul]
General Comments: Didn’t really think I even had a shot here, but Medill has always been my dream, and I worked my butt off to get here. Good luck to everyone regardless of where you all end up  Oh, and if anyone else got into Medill, message me. I’d love to hear from future classmates!

[] SAT II: 800 Math II, 740 US History
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): not sure…out of 4.3 it’s like a 4.0/4.1 though
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): don’t rank, but definitely top 10% at least. Maybe top 5%? 400+ students in class, I would guess top 20 so yeah probably top 5%

[] Summer Activities: NSLC program at Fordham. Nothing special
[] Essays: I don’t know…okay? good? I liked them or else I wouldn’t have sent them. Supplement was very lengthy (~1000 words, but I really couldn’t eliminate anything) and I guess my common app was good.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Not sure. Must have been good
[] Counselor Rec: Not sure. Again, must have been good. (didn’t read my recs)
[] Additional Rec: none
[] Interview: none. I suck at interviews, and heard it was just to gauge interest. I think EDing should show my interest

[] Weaknesses: recommendations. Never really form bonds with my teachers…. I do good work, study, and do what I need to. Didn’t take honors/AP English after freshman year. Thought that would hurt me.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: No one certain thing… I guess I looked like a well-rounded applicant…didn’t take honors English, but very very involved with newspaper.
[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: No where – I haven’t received decisions from anywhere I applied yet. I have to withdraw apps from Wisconsin, Michigan, UVa, Cal, and UCLA, and I will not be applying anywhere else, of course. Was planning on applying to Cornell, BC, Gtown, UNC.
Reflection
Strengths: High GPA, recommendations, okay SAT score…
Weaknesses: few extracurricular activities. I think I have few more important things that should be included in the application, but I had little time to fill it up.
Why you think you were accepted: Leadership, Academic achievement, and constant effort.
Where else were you accepted: Up to now, UW Madison.
Applied to Michigan Ann Arbor, UC Berkeley, UC LA, UIUC, but haven’t heard any from those schools yet.

General Comments:
I started my app two days before when it was due, so definitely I was rushing  I’m happy that it turned out great and I’m pretty excited about next year. Well, I don’t feel anything special, though. I still study all night long, do all my homework, and get all As.

[ *] Ethnicity: Hispanic
[ *] Gender: Male
[ ]Income Bracket: $80,000-$100,000. ~$90,000

[ b]Reflection

[ *] Strengths: Strong senior course load, good employer recommendation, good essays, turned everything in on time!
[ *] Weaknesses: : Low GPA, average/below-average SAT score.
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Expressed extreme interest in attending the school through my why NU essay. I was told by everyone that it was extremely well-written. Strong senior course load and good upward trend in terms of GPA from sucky freshman GPA.
[ *] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Indiana University Bloomington and University of Illinois at Urbana-Chmpaign. I intended on applying to U Penn, Cornell, NYU, U Michigan, U Chicago, Illinois Wesleyan, and a few other schools if I was rejected from NU.
[ b]General Comments:**

Rejected from WCAS

SAT: 2170 (M 730, CR 640, W 800)
Unweighted GPA: 3.71 (out of 4), 3.93 (out of 4) at a residential treatment center that I went to for 9 and a half months for depression and anxiety (end of sophomore year, beginning of junior year)

APs: US History (1 semester), Modern European History, AB Calc, Statistics (senior year)

ECs: Worked at a frozen yogurt shop in my town, member of an international Jewish youth group, team manager of the varsity basketball team, JV and varsity baseball (sat on the bench haha), babysat, traveled to 6 continents, 20 countries, and 36 US states

Community Service: helped rebuild a school in rural Tanzania, helped clean up a neglected Jewish cemetery in Bulgaria, worked in an office for a non-for-profit organization promoting humanism in medicine, Hurricane Katrina relief work, volunteered in an animal shelter

State: NJ
Demographic: White
Sex: Male

Common App essay: wrote about a combination of my struggle for the opportunity to take APs while at the residential treatment center and my physical struggle to get to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro this past summer

Comments: I wasn’t too surprised when I got my rejection letter. I knew that my SATs were slightly below average, I hadn’t submitted SAT IIs, I took few APs (but a lot of honors to fill that hole) and my GPA was around where it needed to be. I also knew that the fact that I went away for almost a year to work on my issues of depression and anxiety could have either worked for me or against me. But all is for the best. I will end up somewhere where I will be happy and that will be a great fit for me. To all those who were rejected or deferred: keep you heads up and stay strong. You’ll end up somewhere where you will be happy nonetheless. Everything happens for a reason. To those who got accepted: Congratulations! You are Northwestern Wildcats! Get ready for four great years in Evanston. To those who are applying regular: I wish you the best of luck in the upcoming months!

I know its super late, but I’m finally getting around to post my stats.

Decision: Rejected WCAS

[] Income Bracket: I don’t know, between 100k-120k but we already have one kid in my family at a private school with 6 people in my family
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Maybe geographic
[/li]

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
