**Official Northwestern RD Decisions 2014**

<p>I feel like the lack of email suggest an impending rejection :/</p>

<p>I feel like an idiot…
BUT HOW DO I CHECK?!
Do i have to wait for an email?
GAH!</p>

<p>D didnot get her email :(</p>

<p>I don’t think questbridge would be a negative factor…it could indicate a greater need for financial aid, but it also shows that you are hardworking and good at overcoming obstacles like economic status. I know a girl who did questbridge with not-so-great stats and she got into Vanderbilt and some other schools I can’t remember.</p>

<p>Accepted bi*ches !!! :D</p>

<p>Decision: Rejected
College of Arts and Sciences </p>

<p>STATS:</p>

<p>-SAT 2140 (M: 690, CR: 670, W: 780)
-SAT IIs: Math I: 680, US History: 690, Lit: 710
-ACT
-GPA: 3.7 UW
-Rank: N/a
-Other stats: </p>

<p>SUBJECTIVE</p>

<p>-Essays: I didn’t do any out there eclectic approach to the “why Northwestern”, just a straightforward essay but I liked my personal statement.
-Teacher Recs: Didn’t get to read them, but my counselor told me they were really good. 4 in total
-Counselor Rec: Pretty good methinks
-Hook (if any): None really</p>

<p>LOCATION/PERSON</p>

<p>-State or Country: NY
-School Type: Public
-Ethnicity: White (Polish)
-Gender: M
-Major Strength/Weakness:
Strength: I think that I’ve done a lot in terms of Arts in my community. I’ve spearheaded a pretty much dead student theatre by directing films, plays, and starting an Improv club, as well as done a lot of work with music. In a tiny totally sport-oriented town, I see it as an accomplishment.
Weakness: some of my grades may have suffered a bit due to my over involvement. </p>

<p>-Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: I’m a little suprised. With the whole statement that Northwestern views each applicant in the “context of their community” I’m suprised I didn’t stand out to them. I felt that my actions in context was my hook. But oh well. I guess not. :stuck_out_tongue: </p>

<p>-Going to attend?: Nope :stuck_out_tongue: </p>

<p>OTHER FACTORS</p>

<p>-Extra-curriculars: I don’t feel like listing them. A lot of theatre and music stuff. </p>

<p>-Comments: Eh. It sucks but it’s not the end of the world. I’ll have options by the time April 1st comes around. It would have been great if Northwestern had been one of them, but such is life. </p>

<p>Congratulations to anyone who was accepted! :)</p>

<p>btw, I was already waitlisted by WashU, so this was a BIG relief!!</p>

<a href=“Weinberg%20A&S”>color=Green</a>[/color]</p>

<p>STATS:</p>

<p>-SAT: N/A
-SAT IIs: N/A
-ACT: 34
-GPA: UW: 3.65ish W:4.1
-Rank: N/A
-Other stats:</p>

<p>SUBJECTIVE</p>

<p>-Essays: I thought they were pretty good, but my Why NU one was just my Duke and Hopkins essays spliced together
-Teacher Recs: Both of my teachers like me, but I’m not one of their best and brightest students
-Counselor Rec: We don’t know each other that well
-Hook (if any): Triple accelerated in math (taking juniors level college math now). 12 APs (all 4s and 5s thus far) and 2 Dual Enrollments. My team won National Outstanding in the COMAP HiMCM Math Modeling competition this year (top 8 teams in the world out of ~300)</p>

<p>LOCATION/PERSON</p>

<p>-State or Country: VA
-School Type: Public Magnet
-Ethnicity: Asian (Indian)
-Gender: Male
-Major Strength/Weakness: Strengths: Good test scores and unique ECs. Weaknesses: Low GPA
-Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: I showed a steady upward trend in grades, but they still were not on par with other NU students. I think it was my extremely rigorous course load, interest in math, and pretty beast essays.
-Going to attend?: Idk, NU’s my 4th choice. I’m waiting on Duke, Penn, Dartmouth next week.</p>

<p>OTHER FACTORS</p>

<p>-Extra-curriculars: Debate, MUN, Bhangra (Indian Folk Dance), Lots of community service, Club Asia. Leadership, etc., etc.
Two very unique internships for a HS student: 1)Investment Bank (mostly did math grunt work, but was still a sweet experience) and 2)Cardiac Surgeon (viewed surgeries at patient’s bedside for 3 weeks).
-Comments: I’m still in awe that I was accepted. I applied to basically all reach schools. After getting deferred from Cornell ED, waitlisted at WashU and rejected from Chicago, I was pretty sure I’d be attending my state flagship, but I guess not! Congrats to those accepted and those rejected, I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere just as good as Northwestern. Good luck to everybody.</p>

<p>Decision: WAITLISTED</p>

<p>STATS:</p>

<p>LOCATION/PERSON</p>

<p>-State or Country: MA
-School Type: public, small
-Ethnicity: Chinese-American
-Gender: Female
-Major Strength/Weakness: Didn’t visit?
-Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Maybe they’re looking for a different type of person. And I got 1 C+ on my second term (not semester) report card (damn senioritis/English deficiency). That’s probably what did me in.
-Going to attend?: naw.</p>

<p>OTHER FACTORS</p>

<p>-Extra-curriculars: varsity swimming, captain of first high school swim team, captain of academic decathlon, varsity tennis, piano, student council. amnesty international,
-Comments: I’m really not too bummed about it sad to say… cause I just have different plans. I’m thinking of going into pharmacy, so the regular bachelors–>masters–>whatever advanced degree is out there route is not for me I guess. </p>

<p>Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! and for those who got rejected/waitlisted, have no fear! there’s a better fit for you out there, and as weird, screwy, and mysterious as these admissions processes are, they certainly will pay off in the end! :)</p>
