<p>I don't think you can tell if NU rejects overqualified applicants because of Duke's acceptance only. One may argue Duke is slightly harder to get in but the difference is very small. Collegeboard.com says the average SAT/ACT were 1340-1540/29-34 for Duke and 1350-1520/30-34 for Northwestern. This difference in test scores is virtually negligible if you consider only WCAS/Engineering since the other four schools are less stats driven. I have seen NU rejects that got accepted to Stanford or Princeton but then they also got rejected by others. I don't recall seeing a NU reject that got into not just one but every upper Ivy. In other words, I've never seen NU rejected a "perfect" applicant before.</p>
