Official Northwestern University Transfer Thread

Oh man. Small envelope came today. Looks like I'm going to Loyola. Good luck everyone.

stats, for the record...
3.3 GPA for 46 hours of college. 30 ACT

Actually, I just got my letter in the mail. Rejected.

Stats:
3.9 GPA at a CC
Editor-in-chief of my college's newspaper
Phi Theta Kappa member
Incredible recommendations from professors
27 ACT

Worst part: I waited so long that Loyola doesn't have housing left. What a terrible day.

OK, i just got a "transfer student housing" email, but i am studying abroad in oxford and i don't know if this means i got accepted or not--any acceptees/otherwise get this email? thanks.

Rift, I'm in and got that same email today.
Congrats.

eeeek are you sure b/c i got that same email!!!

Not sure, I'm only assuming.
You can probably call NU housing and ask?

i've been rejected by every school except my safeties and then this happens after months of waiting. if that's the case i will be ecstatic :)

I got the housing email as well...and i paid my oxford abroad fee to IFSA-Butler on tuesday...really confused now.. anyone know when NU office will be open again? next Mon?

got in, 3.75 at ucla, not attending though. good luck to everyone

i applied to transfer out of northwestern. haha. now i'm trying to decide if i should leave!
think carefully. northwestern is unusual. its known for grade deflation. the quarter system can really suck. the winters are absolutely brutal.
i love a lot of things about it too, but i just thought i should mention these things for you all.

Is it fine to negotiate for more financial aid? I realize that might be pushing it since my FA package is pretty generous and the Web site says it's "generally not available" to transfers, but another school I applied to is offering more and maybe it's worth a shot.

You can make an appeal if you think you should get more FA and have additional information to provide, but I'm pretty sure you can't negotiate.

Did anybody receive the student housing email that was rejected admission?

The email states "Dear Transfer Students...complete the online [housing] application as soon as possible"--does anyone know if this email was send to all prospective or just admitted students?

Thanks

question: did acceptances come by fedex or usps? i just realized i gave them a PO box address and fedex cannot deliver to PO boxes.

I just received my acceptance today, July 7th (via USPS); it was sent on the 2nd of July. It is worth noting that I live within a hour of Evanston, thus your letters should be arriving within the next few days (if you have yet to receive NU's decision). Also, I submitted my app. just hours before the deadline, but they also held off on review until they received my spring quarter grades (around the end of June). I cannot believe that I actually got in--I did horrible in high school and mediocre on my ACT. So, do not worry if you did not get in yet, you still may.

Stats:
-College GPA (DePaul U.)= 3.88
-Recommendations= very strong, plus one from a northwestern prof.
-Strong essays
-Decent college and HS EC's
-HS GPA~3.1/4.0
-ACT=25 (1st), 28 (2nd)

Good luck to all awaiting decisions--maybe I'll see you next year.

has anybody received housing application/registration packet? i sent in my deposits in and received receipts for doing so but received nothing more since. it's been more than 3 weeks since they sent me receipts for my deposits. i am getting a bit impatient here...

The housing app is online? Just filled it out a few days ago.
And I made an appt with an academic advisor for today. I guess we'll talk about registration there. You might want to make an appointment?

Does anyone know when we'll know about housing? How late is "late in the summer?"

Also, I haven't sent my deposit yet, so NU hasn't started to evaluate my credits. Do I have to send the appropriate office syllabi?

One more question: Who is definitely going to be at Northwestern this fall?

So apparently, I don't know how to read. All the necessary information can be found in the green "What's Next" booklet that came with the acceptance letter.

Does anybody have a good insight on dorms? Someone told me not to live in the Transfer House and recommended Kemper. Where would be a good place for a junior transfer to live in? I just wanna meet some fellow juniors and then move off-campus if I can.
