Official Northwestern University Transfer Thread

I don't know if it varies by class, but as a current freshman, I have to submit my second semester grades to them before they will look at my application. I don't remember where exactly I read this, but when I called asking about whether the grades would delay the processing of one's app, they said that it would but it's no big deal... apparently.

mcculloch (a part of bobb-mcculloch, which is really one dorm with two different entrances but not at all separated inside) is often considered the best dorm on campus. it is unquestionably the most social, as it is right in the middle of the fraternities. that being said, i don't know if transfers can live there in year 1.

As far as I know, transfers can only live in the transfer dorm until 2nd quarter. The reason this sucks is you're just meeting all of the transfer kids until you can move out! Living with kids that go to NU already makes a lot more sense to me.

The thing about bobb is it's social, but it's on north campus. Some people may not care about living at dorms there, but I would considering it's away from all the hunnies (the sororstitutes). All kidding aside, if I were to live on campus, I'd live in Allison. It's close to downtown, close to classes, close to the lake, and close to the pretty women.

If you guys have any questions about Evanston or minor questions about NU, ask away and I'll try my hardest to help out.

I live in Allison...if you have any questions, ask away.

Please excuse me if this has been discussed time and time again, but how palpable is the Greek and non-Greek divide? Does it affect the campus atmosphere and social life much?

Here's my .02- the greek system is way too big. Something redic like 24% of the school is involved in it. To me, it seems like if you aren't involved, you're going to have a rough time meeting people. Especially if you're not one to go to frat parties.

I never went to NU, though. I just hung around there a lot for about a year and a half. NU students feel free to chime in.

in the most respectful way i that i can also be blunt to other readers, i completely disagree with the previous statement. a lot of people are involved in greek life, myself included, and a lot of people are not. i have many friends who aren't, it is not at all like what you here about greek life at other schools, at the end of the day, greek or not, its still northwestern. if anything, the athletes are more "cliquish", and even they aren't really

"The thing about bobb is it's social, but it's on north campus. Some people may not care about living at dorms there, but I would considering it's away from all the hunnies (the sororstitutes)."

Also, a lot of the freshman sorority girls live in Bobb, not down south (though some obviously do). also, the sororities generally don't host guys nearly as much as the fraternities host girls, so most of the time its sorority girls coming up north, rather than the other way around.

Oh, I understand this fully. I'm not one to go to frat parties, so it would be a bit better for me to interact with the ladies outside of them. Living near to them south = better than living by frat dudes north. Personal preference really.

Anyway, BK22889, do you know any kids at NU that transferred in? Can you ask them when they received their acceptance letters? Thanks tons!

i submitted my application feb 14 (same time as harvard) and on march 25 it was completed. i feel silly. ive been checking the status ever since lol

The Greek system has these connotations attached to it that don't apply to NU's Greek system. At NU, it should be renamed Social Support Network or something like that. It's for students who need a little structure to make friends.

i applied right before the may 1 deadline. and i was wondering how did you guys check the status of your app?

pretty much agree with sanjenferrer

I love this group of transfer applicants... :D

anyone applying as an engineering major...?

Why's that trixee?

i shouldnt have submitted my app extremely early lol i keep checking it because i keep forgetting the deadline was may 1 ughhh

hmm...I actually meant to type that on the Yale transfer thread. haha.

Wow, what a slap in the face.

trixee you suck lol
