Is the IDOC the same thing as the collegeboard profile thing that is sent in to ND?
IDOC is not the same as the CSS Profile. Notre Dame requires you to submit the CSS Profile, and also tax documents through IDOC. Here’s the link to FA Checklist: http://financialaid.nd.edu/prospective-students/applying/
so basically if I didn’t fill out IDOC and I didn’t get an email, I didn’t get in.
Didn’t get an email, and the only FA thing I submitted was FAFSA. No IDOC, no CSS. No ND for me?

Common App. - I very much enjoyed my Common Application essay. I talked about virtue leading to happiness in my life, and also my discovery of St. Thomas Aquinas which led me to a deeper appreciation of theology and philosophy (considering a joint major). (9)
Why ND? - Very much enjoyed this one because it linked my whole application. Some major points I covered were ND’s second to none Catholic identity (including daily Mass, Campus Ministry, and the Theology/Philosophy program). I also explained how I would use the experiences I received from ND to impact the world. (9)
How are you incomplete? - My theological side came out in this one haha. Basically talked about how all humans have something “missing” because we are not Divine like the Blessed Trinity. But then I talked about how I strive to become “more” complete through the exercitation of my mind and body. (9)
Ideal intellectual field trip - Probably my favorite one. I wrote about my experience at an intellectual camp for Catholic teens. I talked about our trip to the art museum, and the significance of art (referenced GK Chesterton in his famous book, “The Everlasting Man”). (10)

General Comments: Notre Dame is still my dream school. I felt like I submitted my best application possible, excluding my ACT score. My essays all revolved around a central theme, and I thought that was my greatest strength. I also have a decent list of EC’s which I am proud of.
I have seen others with >30 ACT’s and >2000 SAT’s get accepted. However, my advice to future applicants is to really focus on your standardized test scores starting junior year. A good year of studying can significantly help you. I wish I would have invested more time focusing on this important aspect of my application.
I am bummed out that I am not headed to ND next year, but it is okay! I will trust that it is a part of the Good Lord’s plan! Transferring to Notre Dame is still an option, so I will just have to see where life takes me!
