Other Factors:**

Everybody keep your head up. I just faced 4 waitlists in a row before gettting this one, so I know how you feel. You will have a great experience wherever you go to school.

where in NY smitter? I'm from near Buffalo.

Decision: Deferred then Rejected

Stats:

SAT: 1390/1600

SAT IIs:

ACT: 31

GPA:above 4.0 weighted

Rank: top 5%

Other stats: good ecs- lots of community service (won a school scholarship given to one student), VP of NHS, French horn for three years, summer mission trips two years, JETS, state science fair, homeroom rep for community service, etc.
Subjective:

Essays: I thought it was really good as did my English teacher. It wasn't about an international trip though.

Teacher Recs: very well written and thoughtful-AP history teacher-included that I got a 5 on that AP test

Counselor Rec: very good and personal because she's also my tennis coach

Hook (if any):not sure

Location/Person: Dayton, OH

State or Country: Dayton, OH

School Type: Catholic private

Ethnicity:White

Gender:Female

major strength/weakness: difficult course schedule, 3 AP and 2 Honors this year; I have taken all honors possible. A C in Honors Calc on midyear grade report might have hurt (only C I've ever received). No legacy.

why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: I don't know, maybe the C or because I didn't make varsity tennis team (it's a very competitive team;they did go to state this year). Maybe they saw that I needed financial aid or no legacy.
Number of Applicants from School: 11 or 12; only two out of nine in so far
*going to attend? Obviously not, but I definitely would have had I been accepted. I'm bummed; ND was my dream school.

I found the rejection letter after getting home from prom at 6:00 AM, so it was a long night (morning to be more accurate). I was wondering if you can call admissions to find out why you weren't accepted because I'm curious. Now I have to figure out where to go- Case Western, U of Michigan, or U of Dayton. I would really like to try transferring to ND after freshman year, so any suggestions would be welcome.

wow... upsetting... those stats look a lot like mine. sorry about that ktwoo.

one more day...

if i dont get my decision tomorrow, i might flip a ****..

actually, ill prob come back on collegeconfidential.. see whos gotten in & what state they were from & uh, calculate when ill get mine.. haha.

ktwoo: I'm sorry about your news. You have good test scores , a great GPA and what sounds like some great EC's. It probably can't hurt to call your regional admissions rep and talk to him/her about the decision.

Case-Western, Dayton and Michigan are some great alternatives. (My kids both visited Dayton a couple of times and really liked the school - my brother went there and loved it). I hope whatever decision you make that it's the right one for you.

Thanks for the support and advice. Initially, I had written off the possibility of UD because it's literally less than five minutes from my high school, but I don't think I've given it a fair chance. They've offered me several scholarships, so it would definitely be a lot cheaper than ND would have been.
Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I wrote you a email as well but let me know if you do want to talk about transferring. It does sound like UD could be good for you as well, though, so definately see what you have there! Cheaper is good!

"where in NY smitter? I'm from near Buffalo."

Orchard Park what about you?

oo my best friend lives near Orchard Park in Cheektowaga, and from what he tells me, they have some of the prettiest houses there since a lot of the families come from money. His one neighbor moved there a few years back.

Location/Person:
State or Country:long island

major strength/weakness:never had good math grades
why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered:poor rank, school doesn't usually have people accepted, another girl already got in ea at my skool

going to attend? i wish
Other Factors:this blows. i don't really want to go to college anywhere else. I might look into the hobo profession instead

Before going the hobo route, check out my website (if you haven't already) and get in touch if you would like. www.nd.edu/~mnadorff/transfer

"oo my best friend lives near Orchard Park in Cheektowaga, and from what he tells me, they have some of the prettiest houses there since a lot of the families come from money. His one neighbor moved there a few years back."

Yeah, Orchard Park is kind of a bubble. Nobody knows what goes on inside, and nobody inside has any clue about the real world. Most people do ok, but we have a mix like any other community

"Batavia, NY.. halfway between Buffalo and Rochester."

I only know about Batavia because we use to meet my aunt there when we visited her in Rochester.

phidoux, i had the exact same feeling about 20 minutes ago....ahhhh

the worst part will be ppl asking if i got in, ill have to burn this poster of nd i stole off the wall in school thats been hanging in my locker all year

I have been there, I know. :(
