Except didn’t the pope say you can eat meat tomorrow or something?
Yes. It’s still lent. So it is pretty hasty to assume that ND is not adhering to the St. Patrick’s Day connection.
@Samma124 @kslinky oh, great thanks!
It seems to be a mix of some pattern and logic that might compel ND to release decisions today. But it also has a fair share of pure speculation and hope so we shouldn’t really get our hopes up.
The WashU thread had a bad time with speculation lmao
Campus Dining Tweeted the fact. The bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend issued the dispensation (a “corned beef indult”):

Thx 4 your question. The DH won’t be offering meat this Friday. Many other ND locations do offer meat on Fridays during Lent tho.
I think it would be extra cool for them to release on St. Patricks Day - what could possibly be more irish?
I’m holding to my completely baseless prediction that decisions will be released tomorrow, after 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
Why do I speculate so? Because it’s all about them. It’s easier and better for the admissions staff.
Why not announce in advance the decision release date/time? Easier for them, since they don’t have to meet a deadline.
Why release on Friday, after 5 p.m.? Easier for them, since they don’t have to take calls from rejected applicants and parents until Monday, by which time half the people will have calmed down, accepted their fate, and not bother them with complaints.
Why release on St. Patrick’s Day? Better for them. They really only care about those accepted/future alumni. Admitting on St. Patrick’s Day creates a good lifetime memory for that pool. For the rest of their lives, they’ll be able to say they became a Fighting Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. For those they reject, whose holiday is ruined, I suspect they have little concern.
But again, just speculation. I know all of the above might be completely wrong. And I hope I am proven wrong. We’ll know soon enough.
Finally, I’m dying here too. I can’t sleep or concentrate knowing that my future will arrive in an email sometime before the end of the month. I don’t really think I will get in (scores are borderline), but it’s fun to dream. Life will go on and as someone else said, their loss is another’s school’s gain. It’s been fun to read and share thoughts on this site and you all seem like great people who have worked hard to make your future the brightest it can be. To share the sentiments earlier, I wish all of you the best of luck, in the next week and always.
I’m religiously switching between CC, groupme, and the confirm.nd site…
I’m just sitting down on the beach reading cc and almost started crying when I thought about opening an acceptance to ND or even a gateway program invitation. Lmao I’ve got it bad
@nduclaunc the other day I was in class and started reading about kids that were wait listed, and I cried so hard I had to leave. I feel your pain.
@lagirl2017 here’s to hoping our passion shined through in our app.
Hope everyone good luck:)

For the earlier discussion-- I believe Notre Dame is still going to release the decisions at 6:42PM (1842) as it did last year. Possibly also on March 18th.
