So, what are YOU guys gonna be doing this weekend? ;)

studyiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing :)

Uhm, I bought PrincetonReview's 11 Real SAT's, but it seems as though their verbal questions are inaccurate...one of the choices was "harsh criticism" which is extreme, but it contradicts itself on another example where it says so and so is incorrect because its extreme. Anyway, what book should I get to use for this weekend and next week to practice my time management on Math and to practice choosing the one and only correct answer for CR. I need to go from a 1220 -> 1400+. In math, I know I can break 700 at least..even 750 if I take my time, because I have the concepts down..it comes down to careless mistakes.

Heres a tip I learned today while doing a Math section which I scored perfect on. When theres a long problem, underline "even", "distinct", "odd", "prime", and such words so when you're doing the problem you don't neglect it because you forget. I don't know if this may be the case for you, but it is for me.

I'm having trouble with CR...no matter how much I've practiced and I've read Grammatix, I still can't choose the 1 and only correct answer :(. Any Tips for CR in finding that 1 RIGHT answer?

Thanks...so yeah in all of my blabber, which book resembles TCB Blue/Red/Online tests best so I can practice?

Um, you just named them. Haha. :)

Poll: is anyone here NOT struggling with CR?! It's like practically in the definition of a CCer: CR is the CCer's worst section. Unless if they got a 2400, which is unusually common. ;)

nope....CR is definetely my weak point :) ... not struggling with it though...maybe next week...tired after preparind my ED app that I've mailed today :D

The CR section should be removed.

RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE

definitely should

lets make a complaint at CB telling them none of us shall take the sat any more if CR included... haha...they would have to change it cause otherwise they would go broke :D

lol
Lakshmi, that's an excellent idea :) but if they remove the CR section they will put something that is more evel and malicious something more macabre even than the CR

Like... history! Ahh!

(I almost said an essay. Then I remembered they've already decided to torture us further by making it a third section. Booo.)

If vocabulary is the tool necessary to complete the CR sections, and if the formulas are the tools necessary to complete the math sections, why are formulas provided, but vocabulary is not? Whatever. I'm not going to complain anymore, because it just wastes my time.

The SAT Reasoning Test just seems lopsided towards english and against math.

well if you get 690 on CR on october and thats 94%ile, tells you something doesn' it

Because the math section is supposed to measure quantitative reasoning whereas sentence completions (not all CR questions, mind you) measure qualitative reasoning in terms of both knowing (or logically understanding) the meaning of words as well as interpreting context clues.

OMG I just 620CR on the fourth blue book practice test! Did anyone else find the critical reading a LOT harder than usual? Especially section 7!

i dont know for the CB blue book, but Gruber's CR just kicked my asssss
ouch ouch

got 2010 last time.. aming for a large increase in writting only.

yeah...I second you setzwxman. they should give us the words we would have to know for the sentence completitions(I'm doing quite ok with the CR passages :) ), but I'm lousy at those sentece completitions. Hate them!!!!

Whoaaaaa I went through an entire CR practice test yesterday with my friend (who's a natural SAT - especially CR - whiz). We discussed each and every problem, and I feel so much more confident now. It's a lot easier to understand something that comes from a person than from one sentence written by people who don't care if they confuse you in the first place. I definitely recommend it.

hey......which books have you all used to prepare???

Theoneo, thats an awesome idea. Too bad my friends aren't natural test takers and all scored around where I did and have no intention of retaking. Could you point out some things you learned from your friend? What are some tips you learned and whats your strategy on test day?
