Official Novembor 2007 SAT Thread

^ Yeah. I don't either. I get like 2-3 wrong per section..except the last one. haa

Any must know math formulas someone can think of sharing? What's a good formula to use for "list" problems? (The ones that then say 'find the 101st term..)

Those always get me.

^ What I do for those..is let's say.. the sequence is
1,3,4,5,1,3,4,5....
What is the 71st term?
Well there's 4 repeating terms..so i 71/4 is 17 with remainder of 3.. the remainder is the number of the term in the 4 number sequence..so my answer would be 4.

the formula is

a1 + (n-1)d

a1= first number
d= difference
n= number of terms they want..

DAMN ME!!! lol. i want at least a 2100... i only need 20 more pts to get into the honors program at the school i want to go to

Thank you both! Keane fan, I don't mean to be dumb, but what exactly would "difference" be? Is there any way you could give me an example of a problem that would work with that formula. Thank you soo much in advance!

like..
the following sequence

2,4,6,8,10.. what is the 60th term
the difference between 2 and 4 is 2.

I am aiming for a 1900+. I hope to get at least a 750 in CR and at least a 700 in Writing with at least a 10 on the essay. I will be thrilled if my math score is anything above a 550.

My goal is 2000+ am taking it for a first time. Also english is my second language.

Hey guys I
m still having some difficulty with those coordinate geometry-function questions. Can you give some good sources to learn those problems once and for all it
s really my math biggest weakness.

Im the opposite. ok with maths but cr and writing gets me

Spawn: Grubers is comprehensive for maths

I was talking for an online source. It is 5 days now till the SAT and I want a comprehensive review for those coord.geom.-function questions.

It`s no time for books now.

Ah thanks that makes sense, keane fan.

If CR would go up by 10-20 points I'd be happy and if math could go up by say, 70-100 points that would be amazing!!!

We can do it guys!

OMG I need to prep now!!! Its monday...and the test is Saturday...haha thats not alot of time. I took a practice test this past saturday and i got a 1820!! WHAT the hECK? My math score should be 800 not 650! I'm so good in math, why can't i get an 800?!!!! I"m going to go a million math problems, critical reading, and writing problems from now till thursday. Friday i'll relax and saturday i'll take the test!

how does my plan sound?

Sounds like an infallible plan.

hahhahaha sounds like my plan. except.. i haven't studied at all today

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one cramming D:!! I think I'm going to go with Starry's method..the only thing is..negative thoughts keep clouding my brain..and I don't know how to block them out. >__<

FOUR MORE DAYS..WE CAN DO ITTT...

I studied today, but it wasn't enough. I'm hoping for a better tomorrow.

Boy, do I hate the SAT right now.

I did better than expected on my practice test on Saturday so I have some confidence. My score went up like 120 points and I haven't studied since the March SAT hahaha. Somehow it just came to me during the test what was causing my score to drop.

So these past few days I've just been doing sections. Mainly math.

Writing I don't care about anymore. If the writing topic is something I like and I can pull a 9, 10 or 11 out of my ass, I can get a 660-700 easy.

CR, again. If I can get into the passages, I can manage a 620.

This test is all based on luck though. Sometimes you'll get 3 sections of math that are ridiculously hard and sometimes they'll be easy.

err. have you tried majortestprep.com
contains some maths exercise with exp..

I'm confused with the practice tests. I do them, score them, and then it gives me ranges like 650-760. That's a big difference. How do you know what your predicted score will be? Should I just say like 700 if they give me a range like that?

thats to account usually for the test specific curves - shows how nasty the curves can be...a diff of +/- 300 points for some ppl, lol
