**Official NU ED 2017 Discussion and Results Thread**

So it seems for 2009, 2011, 2012… it came out the same say as the end of the fall quarter. If someone can confirm 2010 then we can be almost sure it will come out december 14th

I decided to be nostalgic and look at NU2017 prospies…good luck! I applied EA to Stanford and didn’t get in, but it turned out to be a blessing because I did RD to NU and I’m so incredibly happy here!

Anyways, whatever happens I’m sure you all will have great options no matter what. NU is a wonderful place but not the place for everyone, so don’t get too hung up on where you end up.

Best of luck,
Class of 2016

I hate yall who said it’s going to come out yesterday! haha
i was getting myself prepared by playing some pool, but was real disappointed when i found out that it wasn’t in yet.
oh well. if i don’t get in, it’s not like end of my life is it?

i have a 29 ACT- 3.86 Unweighted GPA, my sister graduated from NU in 2012 with a 3.97 phi beta kappa suma cum laude- i spent 2 summers volunteering in an armenian orphanage and raised over $5,000 for the orphanage. I am a dormitory prefect, a member of my school’s gold key society, was an elected member of disciplinary committee, Blue key tour guide, taught french to under priviledged students ever summer, tons more community service

chances???

cacidol, how many ppl from ur highschool get into NU per year roughly?

EDNUFTW: no one that I know of got accepted last year but I’d say 2-3 per year. Only 3 girls applied this year but each to different schools

oh and 730 chem SATII and 750 MATHII and 690 US
ap chem, ap bio, ap calc ab, ap us very hard school
amazing recommendations from advisor, college counselor, and chemistry teacher
top 10% of class

the fact that noone went from your school last year may help you. Im not sure how comp of a school you go to. your stats are a little on the low end. legacy helps but im not sure how much NU weighs legacy. I think with very strong essays and recs, you have a chance. but wouldn’t be surprised if you dont get it.

Also for anyone to answer, If im the only one in my school applying to McCormick, does it help with chances? everyone else is weinberg

anyone have something more encouraging to say? NU is my dream school :frowning:
and i think it does help with chances! best of luck to everyone!!! I’m praying for all of you

CACidol

YOU’LL GET IN!!!
Believe in yourself, and let’s believe in ourselves :stuck_out_tongue: I think by this time the decisions could have already been made. In fact, after we had submitted our Early Decision Apps to NU, well, they’re out of our hands, aren’t they?

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you CACidol,
and rest of y’all!

Hi NU Hopeful Friends:
Just checking in. Trying to be zen about the wait. One of the things I heard was that decisions are made by Dec. 1, and then the financial aid committee takes over and processes the financial aid packages. That’s why parents had to fill out the financial aid forms by Dec. 1. So it’s reasonable to assume that we will hear on Friday since the FA folks probably need a couple of weeks to do their thing.
Hope that helps.
Hugs to all!

yes, let’s give them another week so they have more time to stuff wads of cash into our acceptance letters :Da

Like shoveldog said, the decisions have already been made! They’re out of our hands now. Anything we could’ve done, we’ve already done over the past 17/18 years. And again, if we don’t get in, we’ll end up happy elsewhere! Everyone, stay positive!

That picture of them putting money into my acceptance letter is quite appealing.

It really could be any day this week 5pm cst

Good luck to everyone!

thank you shoveldog <33
good luck to all of you!!!

Aquamay, you saying the past 17/18 years gave me a really funny image. I’m picturing a two year old with hipster glasses, reading some Faulkner novel, while doing Calculus saying “I don’t always study, but when I do, it’s to get into Northwestern.” I know, I’m weird. I found it entertaining though.

Not to get people riled up or anything… But unless they came up with an actual, lasting policy to release results on the Friday before the 15th of December in 2010, I think we’ll know early this week. It’s never been as late as the 14th!!

Also, post #637, which is the first “I got in!!!” post, on this page (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/northwestern-university/606807-nu-ed-responses-yet-anyone-5.html</a>) was uploaded 6:12AM NU time. And post #646 says that the poster got his email at 7:02.
So this particular person would have gotten his email Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 7:02AM.
I wonder what this means for us. Do any of you think there is a chance that we’ll get our email in the morning? Or could this be an exception for Saturday releases? I could go check threads from other years… but lay-z.

TL;DR-> Based on the release dates from the previous 8 years, the 14th sounds a little too late to be likely.

Also, talk more guys!! The lack of new posts on this thread makes me feel… lonely. I could easily spew out more speculation if I knew people wouldn’t be annoyed by it
From all my anxiety-powered research, I’ve noticed that ED Class of 2017 on CC is perdy quiet–less than a week to results and we have like 300 replies–compared to previous years.

I have my email on my phone, so I’ll be checking my phone for emails when it pushes it to me, haha. I think since there is not a real policy, it could pretty much come at any time. I can talk, the question is does anyone want to listen? Let’s discuss our favorite, and least favorite classes.

My favorite class is hard to pinpoint. I like my Newspaper class because I enjoy ranting (I write the staff editorial, which is from the perspective of the class as a whole), and I like most of the people (We might be kicking one of the two annoying people out soon, and I will be overjoyed. I also like Biology 2 because it’s Micro/Genetics/Anatomy and Physiology. It’s really interesting, and when my teacher is here (He’s out to take care of his newborn) he’s really cool. He’s got a dragon tattoo that he hides by wearing long sleeves all of the time. I also like my AP Comp Sci class because it’s really interesting, I can play games, we have fancy (Well, not really) new computers, and the teacher is cool. So I’m not sure which is the best.

My least favorite is by far Economics. My teacher is cool in small doses, but he wears on you after a while. Plus most of the information is common sense, and the tests are just straight memorization of different lists. What are causes of inflation? What are consequences of inflation? How can we narrow the income gap? BLAH BLAH BLAH.

There, now we have a new topic :-D

My fav class is either gov or econ, mostly because they’re really easy and I don’t need to pay any attention (or do any work) to get 100s on the tests :stuck_out_tongue: my teacher is pretty chill also, makes it even better
Least fav class, by far, is english. I can’t stand my teacher nor the subject/how the class is run.

I still think results will come out on Friday because historically they come out on the last day of the Fall quarter. Still, though, the sooner the better
