[] Essays: The personal statement was good. Personally I really liked it. But I’m not really sure about my NU one, as it was probably not as impactful and interesting as I wanted it to be. Still, it was very personal. I also submitted an abstract for the research statement that was from my Extended Essay
[] Teacher Recommendation: I’m not really sure. My English teacher might have said that I am not active enough in class discussions, but otherwise, there shouldn’t have been anything bad. He also likes our class a lot, so it should have been fine. I sat down with my Psychology teacher and talked to her about my recs, so that should have been good too.
[] Counselor Rec: My counsellor’s great, but I’m not that close to him. I’m sure that his recs were good though.

[] Weaknesses: Test Scores, and probably HS GPA. I don’t know because they don’t tell us our GPA at our school
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Maybe being an international applicant has its perks. Other than that I would still say activities and maybe essays
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Only applied ED to NU[/ul][ b]General Comments:**

Its starting to sink innnnnnnn after the initial shock!

WE’RE ACTUALLY GOING TO NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY IN EVANSTON, ILLINOIS FOLKS.
LIKE WE’LL ACTUALLY ATTEND NU.

I know! I walked into my calculus class today to applause, I’m the only student from my school ever to go to NU! I’m so excited! Congratulations to everyone! and I’m really sorry to the Rejectees, you all deserve it, if only it were 5 years ago

As an alum and mother of a current student, congratulations to all of you!

My teacher sent a mass email to EVERY TEACHER in the school! Friday was like I was in a movie or something! I walked down the hall and everyone knew my name, ha.

Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): I don’t feel like writing it all out but I was editor of the yearbook which I think definitely helped, I’ve played rec soccer for 12 years, I’m a girl scout, I lead several clubs (Mock Trial and Debate team leader), plus I do a lot of volunteer work.
Essays: I was really proud of my common app essay, even my counselor wanted a copy of it to use as an example. My why NU was ok, but not my favorite.
Teacher Recommendation: I think really good. I got my Bio teacher and English teacher to write recs, and both are wonderful teachers/people so I think they probably did a good job. I also got my mock trial coach to write one, and he is affiliated with the school/alum so I think that helped.
Counselor Rec: My counselor rocks, so I’m sure good.
Additional Rec: See above, mock trial coach.

I’m SO happy right now! I can’t wait to be a student at NU!

I got a few congratulations from people who saw my Facebook post, but are school is pretty apathetic in general.

I wish I could say I’m attending, but I’ve still got financial need that hasn’t be answered yet. We’ll see what happens when we get our more info package.

I’m like the only one from my school who’s gotten in ED to any school so far (apart from the Purdue fellow), so all the attention’s cool xD

Best of luck with getting your stuff sorted crimson, you’ve wanted nu so badddd!

Thanks, I’m hoping between having my dad be unemployed for four years, my mom on disability and having tons of medical issues that I’ll get enough, but who knows. Apparently their average package for people below 30,000 is only 35,000 or so, and COA is 60,000… That doesn’t seem right. Am I reading something wrong?

uhh crimson, I dunno where you’re looking, but northwestern has some of the best financial aid in the country. The average student graduates with only 17000 in debt. Northwestern gets more quest scholar matches than any school. I’m in a 22000$ household, and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be getting the VAST majority paid, although it’s possible being a questbridge finalist affects that, (or maybe you’re right and when I get my financial aid package my dreams will be crushed)

Well, my dad’s been unemployed, but now he’s around 60,000 so I think that might screw it up. But they meet 100% so yes, they are usually good.

Yea, the aid package just for the average applicant is 35000, so im pretty sure between grants, loans, and work study, you’ll be able to afford it, which is good, cuz you, like most of us seem pretty passionate about northwestern

Hey everyone, congratulations on everybody who got in! I’ve been reading this website for so long that I finally decided to make an account, specifically for this thread. I applied ED for Medill and got rejected :(
