Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): not that I can think of except I’m a girl applying for engineering.

I am applying to Mccormick for environmental engineering ED. Please chance me! This is my dream school and after going there this summer, it seemed like the perfect place for me. I felt like I really fit in, so fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone!

I know the wait is a difficult one but no amount of people chancing you will make it less difficult. Our opinion doesn’t matter, so let’s simply hold tight for the opinion of NU admissions.

Amen to rainingdaisies’s comment.

I think it’s good to be anxious because it means you care, as you should if you’re a competitive applicant for a top-tier school like Northwestern. But nobody here (except an NU admissions counselor, who I doubt would “chance” you on a forum like this) can really give you any legitimate percent “chance” of acceptance, especially without having read your essays.

So no worries! It’s all gonna be okay. Reading over your accolades, it seems like you’ve had some great accomplishments over the course of your high school tenure. Judging from your resume, I doubt you’ll ever go hungry, regardless of where you complete an undergraduate degree. I can’t chance you, but I CAN wish you good luck on your application! So good luck! We’ll have our decisions before we know it.

Is the ethnic distribution of NU available somewhere online?

@botmeister
Not sure if this is accurate, but I would assume it’s a good estimate

Here is 2016 class profile:

[Applying to Northwestern: Office of Undergraduate Admission - Northwestern University](Apply: Undergraduate Admissions - Northwestern University)

My twin is applying ED and he’s so nervous He’ll totally rub it in my face if he got accepted XD

This may be a stupid question, but does being female count as a URM? I know there are definitely fewer women in engineering at least.

@3030981 I don’t think that counts as URM, but its definitely a slight advantage for us (I’m also applying to engineering for civil… and orginally from Kansas!)

How will we be notified of our acceptance to NU? Will it be through email or something else?

Yo, 3030981 - Yes, being a women in Engineering is a big help - at least my D, who is a recent NU McCormick grad thinks so
