Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

Congratulations. I might apply to UCLA, UCB next fall but I am out of state so who knows.

@kmart: Duh I’m applying transfer! “Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread” (to CAS)! I think I’d transfer in as a sophomore in the spring w/ credits from my CC & AP scores.

~StAtS~
GPA: 4.0 throughout highschool & 3 semesters at a CC
SAT: 1920/2400 (taken once)
No remarkable extra curriculars.
Some kind of cool community service.

I submitted my application way early in late September. When I took the SAT in '07 & all of my AP tests, I guess I made sure all my scores were sent to NYU, so they had those already when I applied. If the login isn’t working for you right now, I wouldn’t stress too much about it.

@mitch
Oos is hard. Make sure u complete all prereqs and dont apply to an impacted major! I didnt apply to ucb bt i applied to ucla biz econ and got rejected :p

i just created an nyu email! that means i got in???

@tallFrodo
I know. The numbers don’t look good. NYU would be my number one but I just want to see if I would get in to a UC. If I get in, then I have to weigh my options. If I don’t, it’ll be alright since I’m not relying on them.

@roymond

based on last years thread it looks like you got accepted! congrats :)

hey guys, i have created an nyu email when i got my net id, and i checked on that site and put my info and it said i am already activated and i also still have my nyu email. if it still works, dose it means i am in or is it just working because i have made my email acount eariler?

@ roymond, lrt

did you guys receive net ids or did you just put in your ss?

@roymond what major/school did you apply to?

@tallfrodo oh that’s awesome! congrats on the UC schools! I’m still really hoping for NYU but I’ve got Fordham at least-I’m planning to stay in the NYC area after college for law school and I’ll probably live there after I graduate law school too so it’s good Fordham is well respected there :)

i put in my social security and activated my email and everything works, the nyu home page has all of my information already so i think i got in. i applied to a joint program with CAS and Tisch for english and film studies

@kmart
Thx :slight_smile: lol i applied to fordham and nyu b/c i want to stay in the nyc are for law school and after graduation too haha. Weirrd

@tallfrodo
really?! that’s so crazyyy!! haha well it would be so cool if we both end up at NYU! i’m nervous though-that link still doesn’t work for me. But they didn’t have all my forms in until sometime last week so maybe that’s why? Maybe they just haven’t had a chance to review my app yet. That’s what I’m hoping at least…

So, so far only lrt has heard from nyu?

@mitch why are you applying to uc’s? I actually go to one. It’s not that greattt… well, that’s my opinion

@pinkgrapefruit
that’s what it seems. Does that link work for you?

Kmart are you talking about the link to make an email?
No it doesn’t work for me.
I just called Admissions to make sure they at least have everything and they said that they did. They said that I should find out soon and that everything is on a rolling basis. I didn’t know it was like that. I would have sent in everything earlier…
Sigh.

pinkgrapefruit ohhh i didn’t know that! i thought they sent it all out at once. Eek. Yeah the link doesn’t work for me either (yet) but I’m hoping it’s just because they recently received a transcript they were waiting on. Or they might not have gotten to our apps yet-they have tons to do a day.

@pinkgrapefruit
they said it was on a rolling basis? When did you submit everything? I had everything in by October 15th

Well what they said to me on the phone was that they were sort of looking at the applications in the order that they receive a complete application, because their policy is to look at everything as a whole, so I guess if you didn’t have one part of your app in. Then your application was on a waiting bench and then once everything was completed. Your application got in line to be reviewed.

@roymond I handed common app in Nov 1, but I think a one of my school forms the one from the dean arrived two days after that. But it was postmarked for Nov 1st I believe.

@kmart what type of message do you receive you try to make an account?
I get this “Only current members of the NYU community are eligible to use this function.”

@roymond if it is rolling basis, i wouldn’t worry too much. They’re probably busy but i think by rolling it means after november 1st because that’s when everything was due and NYU doesn’t really do rolling admissions in the typical sense-if that makes sense. I wouldn’t worry too much.

@pinkgrapefruit that makes TOTAL sense (what you said about the rolling admissions thing) because they were missing a college transcript from me and I called last monday and they didn’t have it and I called last Friday and they did have it so they got it at some point last week which probably means mine is still waiting in line to be reviewed, right? I mean…there are a lot of applications that they have to see. Yeah i get that exact same message
