Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

@AACHENCHEN1

Same here, final HS transcripts has still not been checked off and I had it sent twice -.-’

@Tomeu11

My HS transcripts had not been checked off either. I e-mailed them and was told that they had received and gone through ALL of their mail thus far and that I should resend it. I told them it’s going to take weeks for it to be sent to them so I’m not sure what’s going to happen now :/

I’m worried if my transfer credit doesn’t show up soon that I have already been rejected…

Has anyone’s transfer credits shown up ?

Guys stop worrying about Albert. If there is something missing, they will email you. Also, we have a long time to go until the last round of acceptances/waitlists. I got waitlisted last year and I did not hear back until JUNE because they wanted my spring semester final grades.

they said they have received it, but the system still has not been upgraded…it’s so weird that it take so long to upgrade…

Yeah, my HS thing still hasn’t been checked off either. However, I emailed them and they told me that my file is complete.

@SuperPowers did you get wait listed as a transfer last year?

My transfer credit didn’t show up until after I was accepted so I don’t really think that’s something you should be worrying about

@hsclassof2011

Yeah to CAS but I’m applying to Stern this year. I think NYU is the only school where being waitlisted = pretty good chance of being accepted eventually.

Has everyone who has been accepted been asked for their midterm report before their acceptance?

Is MCC particularly hard to transfer into? Everyone thats applying seems to have abnormally strong EC’s…

Also I really really really hope MCC acceptances will come out tomorrow, or at least this week. Ugh my school wants my housing deposit and it would be great to know where I’ll be next year sooner rather than later

@MA2011, haha I hope I have strong EC’s! I think it’s hard to really establish any leadership roles during your freshman year of college, however is does benefit you if you have a part-time job, or at least if you are a member of any organizations. I hope I hear back tomorrow too, although I have a feeling I won’t be hearing back till the end of the month knowing my luck lol.

@Everyone else, I hope tomorrow is the day though, so good luck to everyone!

Will someone please chance me?

I applied to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts: Film & Television this past March (March 27th to be exact). From all that I’ve been reading on these threads, I have read many mixed comments regarding admission. Some people say that the portfolio & academics are weighed 50/50. Though I read other comments and they said that if they really like your portfolio, then they will take you.

I am currently at a CC in California & here are my stats:

HS GPA: 3.3
COLLEGE GPA: 3.5
Units completed: 19
Units in progress: 14
ECs: I was admitted to a film mentoring program sponsored by a very well known film festival here in Los Angeles. They only accepted 15 students from hundreds of applicants. Then all 15 of us were assigned to write a short film and only 5 were to be produced & screened at 2 film festivals (including the well known one). The script I wrote was chosen and I was also selected to direct it. Many people came to the first screening that was held during the month of March. An executive from NBCUniversal expressed interest in my talent and a production company offered me an internship on the spot.

As for my portfolio, I think I have a strong one. I submitted the short that wrote & directed. There is a clear beginning, middle, and ending. The best part about it is that it screened 3 times and I’ve received such amazing feedback & laughter (since it’s a comedy). I had a couple of professionals read through my writing requirements and they are the best version they could be.

I also do a LOT of volunteering at my city’s LGBT Center.

THE ONLY THING IS, I was academically dismissed from a Cal. State last year. I explained the circumstances in the specified area on the CommonApp. I wrote about how someone very dear to me painfully passed away and how difficult it was for me to recuperate from it. I don’t want to go into much detail about it here, but do you think my academic dismissal will affect my admission to Tisch even with a VERY strong portfolio?

Thanks!

@hsclassof2012
Good luck to you, as well!

Good luck everybody!

BTW did anyone get in last week ? It doesn’t seem like it ! Hope we all hear back soon !!

The thread is surprisingly inactive for it being May 1st tomorrow, I guess many are nervous about their decisions maybe coming out tomorrow… I wish I got my answer tomorrow but I dont think they have my HS transcripts yet. To all of you hearing back tomorrow, good luck!

fingers crossed

I just checked the Tisch - Recorded Music website and where it used to say: “External Transfer: submitted by April 1, notified May 1,” it now says: “External Transfer: submitted by April 1, notified mid-May (*please note the change)”

The date had just changed the past few days. It looks like it might be later for evryone than expected.

You can see what I am talking about here by scrolling ALL the way to the bottom. [UG Rec Music Portfolio: Tisch School of the Arts at NYU](http://clivedavisdept.tisch.nyu.edu/object/ugrmusicportfolio.html)

Haven’t heard anything yet … so I’m guessing this might be like last year where people did not hear back until around May 11.
