Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

@Tomeu11
haha you are right! maybe I should wait another 1-2 weeks to see the update. They must be crazy with us in April since everybody is gonna call them lol!!! Thx

@Tomeu11
Thank you! But what I mean no confirmation is that after I paid application fee and commonapp, there is no automatic e-mail from NYU saying about you have successfully submitted… By the way, what is Albert you are talking about? Is that NYU’s personal account?

@shtimwang

Well, you could always call them in regards of you not receiving that email or just email them about it at admissions.ops@nyu.edu

Albert is the website provided by NYU for students to manage their accounts etc, it is where you can check your application status.

I’m a sophomore culture and communications at a small private institution major trying to transfer into Gallatin.
I want to do a music business/music production/ culture &communications major at Gallatin. Here are some of my following stats:

HS GPA: 2.7
current GPA: 3.31
ACT: 26
None of which is impressive I know.
However My extracurriculars and work experience are much more impressive:
I have been interning at production companies and record labels since I was 15.
I have had my music recorded for a museum exhibit.
I work as a management advisor for a major label band.
I am very involved in my campus community’s Catholic community, sustainability, and event planning.
I am very involved with community service year round.
I have published articles with humanitarian organization.
My “additional information” essay is about how I conquered my extreme learning disability and it is going to be published in a psychology book.

As of the last two semesters my grades have been mostly As. And I having glowing recommendations from virtually everywhere.
I am mostly using the tactic of an emotional appeal, which may be feeble, but I don’t think it is entirely useless.
Opinions?

@shtimwang
They will send you an email about the Albert and how to log in stuff after they confirm your application and payment. But it usually takes them 2 or 3 days to process, so I think you will be getting the email soon. Don’t worry

Anybody else going for linguistics? It’s not very often I find one.

Hey you all! I just got a nomination for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, you think I should try to add this to my application? It is already submitted but maybe there is a way to get around that…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/35536-national-society-collegiate-scholars-8.html

Seems like a scam to me…

thanks!! That is actually what I thought, I had received a similar invitation in High School but I guess this time the transfer decision is making me a little too nervous to think properly

Oh, I’m also a member of Phi Theta Kappa

anyone have an idea?

^IN. Your GPA is great, and your interests are unique. Great chance. Good luck!

Hi everyone!
So I recently got an email from an admissions officer letting me know that they have received everything but my letter of recommendation and college official report form. I mailed them out two weeks ago, so I assume they were lost in the mail. My school said they have to mail out the college official report form out directly from the school. I asked my adviser and professors if they could fill it out for me, but it can only be filled out by the student affairs office. Did all of you send a college official report form? I hope my application isn’t delayed just because of this form :/

Hey guys. Please Please Help me!
I am a senior in high school, i was recently denied by Stern, but i was accepted to BU, GWU, and Cuny Baruch (top 3 choices). My main goal is to transfer to Stern (or other top business schools) after one year of college.
First question: What school(out of my 3) do you recommend me going to if i want to transfer out of 1 year(slight chance 2).
Second: Are there any stern/nyu transfers here? Any advice?
Third: Any other advice on transfering to NYU and other top notch business schools?
HS GPA: 3.43 UW, many ec’s, rec’s, and strong essay.
Im gonna try my @ss off next year to get a 4.0
PLEASE HELP!!!

@Temper

Look through last year’s transfer thread! =)

@Loolala

Did you send in the letter of recommendation yourself? I sent in three letters of recommendations. Two of them were sent by the professors, but one of them I sent myself since I got it from my professor during Study Abroad in London, and it was more convenient for him this way. Anybody see any problems with that?

I sent in all of my materials in one big envelope, and so far the only item they haven’t processed yet is my HS transcript. I did the same for all the other schools to which I’ve applied, and haven’t heard anything in the form of a problem.

@giantmidget i did! Didnt answer my questions ;(

@Houston818

Did you send in the college official report form that’s on common app?

@giantmidget

Yeah, I sent it in myself. If I knew we could send in so many recommendations, I would have also done that! I only sent in one. Do you recommend sending some more? Did you send in the college official report form that’s on common app? My school won’t let me mail it out myself. And they already said they mailed it out on March 13th, but the admission officer said they received everything but the letter and form. She said I could e-mail her any forms or fax them to her, but my school won’t let me see the form upon completion.

I printed out the forms from the common app and had them all filled out, then sent them in myself. The only form that was sealed was my transcript, but they even let me send those out myself.

@Houston818

Man, my school keeps telling me they can’t give me the form! I’m going to go ask them tomorrow to send another one out for me, but I wish I could mail it out myself.
