Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

@transferringsoon1: got an email about housing today around 4 pm. i sent in my deposit on monday. im probably going to be living off campus most likely, although i called today and they said there really wasn’t much difference price-wise between living off campus and on campus (both the student who picked up and the financial aid people said)

I got rejected from MCC today, did anyone get accepted?

Recently accepted into Tisch, but boy people weren’t kidding when they said NYU practically gives nothing in financial aid.

Does anyone know if you can appeal your financial aid award? I called the offices, but the gentlemen I spoke to wasn’t of much help.

@solo2012 Yes, I had to do a lot of digging but you can appeal your financial aid. You have to fill out a form on the Financial Aid website. Here’s the link: https://www.nyu.edu/financial.aid/forms/appeal-form-ru.html</a>. I hope this is helpful to you and others who I’m sure also received meager financial aid.

@newyorksnight Thank you, unfortunately though it says the form is for returning undergraduate students only…not sure what to do next

I still filled out the form, even though I’m an incoming transfer. Never hurts to try!

Anybody heard from housing yet?? Paid deposit on thurs but haven’t heard from them since!

Hey guys, if I was accepted last Thursday, when will I hear back from financial aid? Albert still says not available.

Soooo… with deadlines approaching for most people to pay the deposit, who’s going and who has decided to go somewhere else?

Giant midget, what are your plans?

I’ve put my NYU/housing deposits down. Hopefully I can see some of you guys in the dorms, I chose central dorms to try and meet the most people but I’m hearing people are set in groups?

Hey guys! I transferred this past spring if anyone has any questions they would like to ask… I’m a junior in Steinhardt and I lived in on campus housing :)

Who else is planning on living in on campus housing? Which dorms are you guys listing as your preferences?

My D got in!! Was on waitlist but NYU accepted her! Sorry forgot to post was about two weeks ago she was accepted!

Got off the waitlist offically accepted at nyu and it feels good but i have a tough decision to make . What would you guys say emory vs nyu ??

oh and does anyone know how long after their acceptance they got fin aid?thanks =)

Has anyone made a facebook page for Fall 2012 transfers yet? If not, someone definitely should!

@cbbtrans
I received my financial aid letter about a week after my acceptance.

got into carlyle for housing. anyone else in there?

If you get accepted as a transfer and still have time left on your financial aid. Will financial aid pay the tuition fees for you?

I’m in carlyle too

Hey,
currently I’m a student at a community college. I’ve completed more than thirty credity and hold a 3.85 GPA
so, here is the problem. i also have two more transcripts

transcript (a): I received a (C) in eng.comp1, (C) music appreciation, (A) intro to psych
transcript (b): college survival (C)

so, will NYU consider me? provided the fact that my present and soon to be most recent transcript is at par with nyu

well, if I continue getting A’s this semester and next semester then i will be left with a 3.65. Would 3.65 be good enough for NYU?

Extracurricular: I’m PTK and P.R. of the atheist/agnostic club.
