Hey Guys! I’m an international student currently going to a small college in Boston and applying to NYU… so what do you guys think NYU looks for in a transfer candidate? Good luck for we all!

Hi everyone,
I am currently a sophomore at Pace University(NYC) and I seem to have the lowest GPA which is a 3.78 so far. I am applying to the school of Art and Science and majoring in Chemistry. My SAT is horrible I don’t think I am going to send it since it’s not required. I am working in a science museum and also tutor chemistry at school. Think I don’t have much chance…

Hello! I’m a freshman at the College of William and Mary and I actually have the lowest GPA on this thread - a 3.44; however, for W&M the average grade for a first semester freshman is a 2.5, so I guess I’m doing well. I’m applying to Gallatin and majoring in neuroscience, social work, public health, animal studies, and philosophy (individual major for the win). I was in the top 10% of my high school and received a 2180 on my SAT. I’m heavily involved at the college, I just don’t like it very much. I have the least chance of all!

Major: finance
college gpa: 3.85/4 (top 50 business school)
h.s. gpa: 3.44/4
sat: 2050/2400
e.cs: a couple clubs
have good work experience and my own business as well

so i don’t think i’ll be able to upload a podcast partly cause im lazy, and partly cause im not sure how to (or know if it’s legal or not). however, i’m still down for answering anyone’s questions. i transferred from rutgers new brunswick (in new jersey) to stern in fall 2012 as a junior. feel free to pm me your questions or if you’re feeling extra adventurous and want to chat over the phone pm me your number. good luck everyone!

I am currently a junior transfer for NYU stern. I actually have enough credits that satisfies me as a senior at my school. However, would not submitting standardized test scores be detrimental to my admission?

What do you not like about W&M? I was wait listed there originally last year as a freshman applicant but I did not know much about the school. I am thinking about reapplying but I have heard a lot of negative stuff about the stiff academic culture, grade deflation, and lack of social activities.

Do NOT apply to William and Mary if you are looking at/ like NYU in the slightest. The academic program is incredibly ridged and the grade deflation is ridiculous. One of my professors the first day of class asked us to describe a weed out class and then said, “yup, that sounds like this class” and then dismissed us. I got a B- in the class which is what is pulling my GPA down so much … If you like to do things other then study or drink at frat parties, I would once again urge you not to apply. Campus nightlife and culture revolve around frat parties, which are absolutely the most nasty thing you will ever experience in your life. I wish there were things off-campus, but this is a very sleepy suburb and could not even be considered a college town. The students are not as kind and quirky as the school makes everyone out to be - trust me. I came here under that impression and I am still kicking myself for it. The sorority girls are nasty and many of the students are either too socially awkward to interact with you. This is not to say that I have not met nice people, had good professors, or had any fun at all. I just believe that it is not a good place for me, nor would I recommend it to my friends.

Everything you said pretty much confirms everything I have heard about the school it really does not sound very appealing haha. My only appeal to the school would be the fact that it has a well known name and is known to be a top feeder into law schools (one route I would want to consider in the future). I am fine with frat culture but the grade deflation sounds terrible

Hey guys!
I’m looking to transfer to Stern this fall as a junior. I’m coming from a SUNY Buffalo but my grades are pretty good. Here are my stats:

Major: Business Admin. (International Business and Finance)
HS: 3.7/4.0
SAT: 1820 (yeah not my best area)
EC: Pretty well involved sports and clubs
College GPA: 3.96/4
EC: Leadership position in accounting club and national honor society, volunteer experience

I pretty have all my pre requisites done for Stern, I’m just finishing the Microeconomics this semester. The only pre req I’m worried about is the fact I only have one English class because my school only required one class and a humanities to fulfill the requirement.
My dream school is NYU and I hope everyone does well! Redoing the commonapp has to be the most stressful thing ever!!

Currently a freshman at Tufts. How important is the school you are transfering from? Since Tufts is generally viewed as more selective, will that play any role in NYU’s admissions decision? I did not have a good first semester but am doing better second semester.

Im a college freshman at Villanova University. first semester i got a 3.8/4 gpa and im involved in french club and student activities committe on campus and i particpated in a day of community service and the special olympics
in highschool i had a 4.31/4 scale i took challenging ap courses and was the president of my class and french honors society and had a lot of other extra curriculars
im applying to steinhardt applied psychology for fall 2013… anyone know my chances?

Is anyone applying for transfer to Tisch?? I imagine it’s very hard to get into the program, but I’m wondering how much weight the writing portions have on an application (there are A LOT!).

Hey guys I am currently a freshman at one of the CUNY universities in New york. I will be applying to stern for this fall as a potential sophmore.
