Official NYU 2013 Transfer Thread

@Evry1lovej: I didn’t apply to Stern so I can’t really give you the most accurate answer, but I’m in a really similar position. I missed a lot of high school due to personal problems and failed multiple classes. I also got held back a grade and then dropped out halfway through my junior year.

During the past year, I’ve enrolled in college, taken the SAT, and gotten my GED. I’m only 17 but I will be attending NYU as a sophomore. So basically, yes, it is possible to overcome a terrible high school record and get accepted! Good luck!

is anyone here submitting spring final grades?

mine should be available next week, but since they dont ask for it… i guess i shouldn’t send

JaguarPaw, congrats! You definitely showed than you can do great regards of what happened in high school

@bosbr100 I wouldn’t recommend it. They say not to send more than they ask for because they have a lot of applications to review. I actually sent in four recommendations for some reason, which I felt really bad about later. They already have your transcript and mid-term report, so you should be good.

Edit: And thank you! I’ve definitely come a long way, but I was still in disbelief that I was accepted. I mean, my high school transcript was pathetic, and I only got a 3.66 my first semester of college. Maybe I’m one of those “wildcard” picks. Who knows?

JaguarPaw, thanks. I won’t send it, definitely haha. I also sent some additional materials and I felt bad later on too.
And I’m sure you had something that stood out for them

Okay, so it’s Thursday. Definitely more people will get decisions today.

Oh my gosh now I’m scerd.

So I went back to last year’s thread to check for any trends and saw that many Tisch people got responses on May 17th, a Thursday. I don’t know if that’s specific to last year, but I just have a feeling it’ll be sometime in mid-May this year as well-- maybe the 16th (Thursday in two weeks)? I can’t wait anymore though. Ugh :(

I can’t wait any longer either but I saw somebody on this thread who got accepted to Clive Davis already.

It’s hard to tell when we will find out. Mid-May is kinda late considering the deposits due in other schools =/ I really hope more people get their decision tomorrow.

I’m gonna peep the thread from last year.

Bosbr: the majority of MCC people got their decisions on May 27th last year. When you say “the other courses” I get kinda confused. There werent prereqs for MCC were there? Sure hope not!

Also, for film transfers, dont we have to start in the summer? one of the summer sessions starts may 27 I believe. How can they expect someone to be prepared for that kind of transition in days?

Stern applicant here…hoping for news tomorrow regarding my admission decision. Don’t care if its good or bad at this point…as long as it’s news.

@jaguarpaw
Thanks buddy, this first semester I have a 3.8 and my midterm report A-,A, B+. I have lots of extracurricular such as hurricane sandy volunteer. Two jobs last summer, internship and a job I’m holding now. I hope they take it all to consoderation.

I applied to transfer last year too. Admission decisions were released so late because they pushed the deadline to April 30th instead of April 1.

Accepted to the College of Nursing this morning.

Wow stern is killing me. Why do they do this?!? They think they nice?

Just got my decision through email!
Did anyone get into CAS?

Congrats! If you dont mind can you post what the email said. Also what time did you get your decision??

Still waiting T_T for a response…

Worse comes to worse I will be attending Emory University ^_^. I feel happy either way!
